Shimano fd-m510 front derailleur spring is stuck

Hi, i have tried to fix my front derailleur but with no luck. The problem is, that the spring, which is supposed to make derailleur jump back, doesnt do its job. I tried oiling it. I tried using wd40 for evt rust (have 0 rust and never had) It is NOT the problem with the shifter, or the cables or alignment. The problem is particullary with the derailleur not wanting to jump back after the cable has been loosened. (I have taken in off and trying to play but no luck)

Not a problem that can be diagnosed without eyes and hands on the bike. Post a clear video, or better - take to a bike shop or bike co-op.

SOURCE: My Shimano Alvio 3-speed front shifter has

rough guess, from past life of bmx.
there should be a cable that runs down to the mechanism, the cable is secured by a small nut, loosen the nut and pull the cable a little more out of the nut with pliers. tighten the nut, and try the linkage.
the shift cable stretches over time and your actually gonna make a small adjustment to compensate for the stretch. by just pulling the cable thru the locking nut to make it shorter.

SOURCE: front td-one derailluer won't shift

Maybe go through the whole procedure. Web search "adjust front derailleur" for videos.

Triple to double crankset, problem with left shifter-shimano ultegra

Derailleurs have a return spring in them that will always return them to the smaller cog (whether it is front or rear). The derailleur cable resists this spring tension. If your front der. is on the large ring and will not shift to a smaller ring then it could be a couple things. First, too much cable tension preventing the spring from returning the derailleur to a smaller cog. Second, you low limit screw is set too far in so the derailleur cannot travel back to a lower gear. This will be evident if you shift to a smaller cog, the derailleur does not move and the cable becomes slack. Third, something else is preventing the derailleur from moving, perhaps the derailleur was moved when installing the new crankset and it is getting hung up on a tooth of the large chainring, there could be some foreign matter lodged in the derailleur spring preventing it from operating, the spring could have broken so there is no longer enough tension to move the derailleur back to it's "home" position. Good luck.

Hi, I have a 30T bigring and straight bars. I need the Shimano FD-R453 front derailleur but can't find a UK stockist. Do you stock the Shimano FD-R453 front derailleur? Terry Stevens Mobile:...

We don't stock anything but advice.

Do they have Google where you live? Or a Local Bicycle Shop? Or online shopping which makes physical locations moot? "UK" doesn't narrow it down much.

When shopping for a front derailleur you need to know several things: braze-on or clamp mount; if clamp, seat tube diameter; top pull, bottom pull.

Is this triple compatable with the sl/r440 shifters and an FSA crank_ 52 42 30 9 spead chain and lx back derailleur

Crank - No problem
Chain - No problem
Shifters - Compatible only with Shimano R440 or R443 front derailleurs

If you use the R443 front derailleur than it will work with the chain, crank and shifter.

Require assembly schematic for shimano dura ace shifter . left shifter lever failed, will not activate the front derailler, disassembled, found nothing broken, require advice regarding proper reassembly...

log onto Shimano.com, it is probably the limit screws (the two screws that limit travel) or you have a faulty ratchet in the lever, try the shimano website anyway they have great tutorial and manual support

Chain ring will not shift from high to low

Check Shift Lever for cable movement(Cable may be trapped) / Check cable lock nut on back of the derailluer(this may be loose)/ Check derailluer movement in/out with fingers(this checks the spring).
