Toshiba 46xf355db upon start up there is a fuzy picture and lines

Toshiba 46xf355db upon start up there is a fuzy picture as if the screen cant hold all the lines together, after about 10 minutes the picture is fine or if you turn the tv on and off a few times it fixes the problem quicker. However once it is working there is still a couple of vertical lines on either side, after a longer period of time the lines on the right side vanish and everything is ok bar one line on the left. How can I tell if it is the screen thats at fault, inverter board, pcb, main board? many thanks

I believe that tv is about 10 years old. The best solution and probably most cost effective is to replace it.

SOURCE: red vertical line down right side of the screen

hi

I think your TV have a trouble inside lcd panel
the controller board contains driver IC. Deffective driver IC can cause of line display.

Three reasons why one vertical line accross screen can happen in LCD;

1.The missing signal from the controller IC to
LCD driver.
2. LCD driver IC itself defective
3. Dry contact in the tape carrier package.

Use masking or electrical tape to mark it where the line was located. press it if the line back to normal but when release your hand came back i think it was intermittent. Open the LCD panel

SOURCE: Vertical colored lines on left half of screen.

I had this problem on a 37" Viewsonic LCD. Pulled it apart and through a process of elimination, I traced the problem back to a small board with several flat white ribbon cables coming out of it. The board was near the top center of the screen and under a ton of other equipment requiring almost a total disassembly.

This small board was clean but I noticed one of the rubber standoffs had slipped down and was making contact with one of the outputs running to the LCD. It also happened to be the output running to the section of the screen with the problem.

I postulated that the sticky glue on the rubber standoff may have just enough conductivity to cause a problem. Moved it so that it was no longer touching anything electrical and then reassembled the TV.

Afterwards, I turned it on and was pleased to see the problem has gone away! If you're having the vertical line problem, then maybe this could be your problem too, especially if you have a Viewsonic since it could be a manufacturing defect.

Nothing but multi colered lines verticly on the screen

Try this:
Turn it off.
Disconnect power cord and any other device attached to it.
Take battery out.
Without anything attached. Hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds.
Connect the power cord only.
Hold down F2 (while it's off)
Turn it on while holding down F2.
Let go of F2 when something comes out of the screen.
If multi colored lines still appears.
You have either defective LCD(screen) or video card.

Black lines in tv

Most likely there are electrolytic capacitors in the power supply, video path, and scan amplifiers that are starting to fail from age. This is common in many of these sets. In consideration of the age of the set, this may not be worth having it serviced.

I am repairing my sister TV {Toshiba TN61X81}. The original was no picture and with sound. Upon troubleshooting the vertical deflection, ihad move the screen control for all 3 crts to see the horinzontal...

The easiest way I have found to set the screen controls is to tune into an old black and white show, turn the green up until you see retrace then slowly turn it down until it just dissapears then adjust the blue and red for a true black and white picture.

I have a Sony Grand wega im getting fuzy purple diagnol lines

Try changing the component cable to your Video 6 and see if you have the same problem. I tried this and figured out that the set top box from Verizon component connections may be bad. I also tried changing to a different set of component cables to troubleshoot. I figure its the box not my TV.
