I had this exact same problem. Turned out that I was using the wrong power adapter. Enough power to turn on the scanner lights and connect to the computer, but not enough to actually perform a scan. As soon as I realized I was using the wrong power cord, I switched it up and voila!

That was the exact problem that I had.

Thanks so much! Was spinning my wheels on this, and would never have thought that someone supplied my user with the wrong power adapter. Managed to find the right one in a box of parts.

Same with me. I came to an office which had relocated down the hall and they switched power supplies and put the wrong one in the ScanSnap. Thank you do much for posting your solution!!!

OMG, thank you so much. My scanner is the one thing that I could put through hell and back and I panicked like I failed this little guy somehow. Well, it's working again. I tell you, the thing is indestructible.

Many many thanks...Googled the error, this post was listed as first. The fix worked 100%. I had a 12V plugged into scanner as we moved the office. Lights worked and powered enough but not enough to scan. Found a 24V adapter and Bingo success. Thank you!

Holy cow! This solved my problem immediately. Thank you! Because of COVID I had to move some equipment around when I started working from home and I guess I mixed up some power supplies. Again - thanks!!!

label all wall warts and power packs
    and never have this happen.
nor blow up 5vdc devices with 24v or 48v packs ever again.!!! boom smoke, thin wallet.
doing this wrong can be very costly error.
    for sure.

Very frustrating and I almost threw my scanner in the trash because of this... here's the fix.
go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color from another computer that has the same operating system and copy "sRGB Color Space Profile.icm".
Place the copied file unto the trouble computer - copy the file in the same location.

Good luck

SOURCE: error while attempting to install ScanSnap Manager on Win XP Pro

Bypass installation wizard and just run the setup.exe file for ScanSnap Manager. Installation wizard is bugged.

SOURCE: problem installing Scansnap S510

This is probably due to the program using the same folder for the new version of the program. Best solution would be to uninstall the new version, uninstall the old version and then reinstall the newset version only.
Running a registry cleaner in between does not harm.

One other thing to try is an uninstall program, but I am not sure that will help.

I have a scansnap ix500. I am getting internal error 202003 when scanning receipts. It says the receipts are unregistered. I deleted scansnap receipt and reinstalled but I still get this error.

Please try the following steps to establish the connection:
1. Restart your ScanSnap. Turn off your ScanSnap, wait at least 5 seconds and then turn it on again.
If the icon status is not changed, unplug the USB cable from the computer or your ScanSnap,
wait for 5 seconds, and then reconnect the USB cable.
2. Connect the USB cable directly. If your ScanSnap is connected via a USB hub, try connecting your ScanSnap directly to the computer via the USB cable.
3. Turn-off antivirus software. Turn-off antivirus software and try again.
4. Use another USB port. Try with another USB port if any.
5. Use another USB cable. Try with another USB cable if any.
6. Disconnect other USB devices. Disconnect any other USB devices (printer/scanner/external hard disk and the like) and try
again.
7. Use ScanSnap Support Tool. Connect your ScanSnap to a computer and follow the steps below with ScanSnap support tool.
* To run ScanSnap Support tool, go to the [Start] menu --> [All Programs] -->
[ScanSnap Manager] --> [ScanSnap Support Tool].
  1. Click the [Check] button under [Check Privileges]. If the message, "The recommended privileges have been applied." appears, turn off your ScanSnap, wait for 5 seconds, and then turn it on again.
  2. Press the [Recover] button of [Recover ScanSnap Connection] to see whether it solves the problem.
8. Full shutdown Windows®. (Windows® 10 only) Click on [Shut down] while hold the Shift key on keyboard and shutdown Windows®.
9. Delete the device driver. Delete the device driver to see whether it solves the problem.

Follow the steps below to delete the device driver:
    1. Connect your ScanSnap to the computer, and turn on your ScanSnap.
    2. Open the Device Manager window. For Windows® 10 Right-click the [Start] menu, and select [Device Manager]. For Windows® 8.1 Select the Down Arrow icon on the lower left side of the Start screen -->
[Control Panel] under [Windows System] --> [Hardware and Sound] -->
[Device Manager]. For Windows® 7 Select [Start] menu --> [Control Panel] --> [Hardware and Sound] -->
      [Device Manager].
    3. In Device Manager right-click [Imaging device] --> [ScanSnap iX500] or
[Imaging device] --> [Other devices] --> [ScanSnap iX500] --> [Uninstall].

If the ScanSnap used to be connected other USB ports, connect it to each of those ports and repeat these steps.
  1. Turn off your ScanSnap.
  2. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Reconnect the USB cable to the computer.
10. Reinstall ScanSnap Manager. Uninstall and install ScanSnap Manager again.
If the issue persists after attempting all the procedures above, please collect system information on the computer and send the data to a FUJITSU scanner dealer or an authorized FUJITSU scanner service provider by e-mail. To collect system information, press the [Collect] button of [Collect System Information] in the support tool, and it creates a folder (ScanSnap_date and time) that contains the system information data. We would appreciate it if you could send the data in zip format.

* Refer to [Troubleshooting] in the [Help] menu of ScanSnap Manager.

Hi There
1.Have you logged in with an administrator account?
2.Was it working fine earlier?
3.Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?
You may receive this error if you don't have the appropriate permissions to use the scanner.
Let's try these methods and check if it helps.
Method 1: Install ScanSnap Manager Update (S1500) and check.
http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/peripheral/scanners/drivers/s1500.html
Method 2: Disable security software and check.

Warning: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 3: Uninstall and reinstall ScanSnap and check.

My scanner keeps flashing and not pulling the paper through, I cannot seem to figure out why it will not scan. It does this quite often, what is the problem that is causing this? Scansnap S1500

Go to msconfig or if you have a registry cleaner, go to the startup menu. Disable and ssmgr (scansnap manager in pfu). Reboot. Open the ScanSnap 1500 and then start the ScanSnap manager. The scanner is now ready to scan.
