Ensure the audio cables from the DVD player are connected properly to the television or stereo receiver. Attempt to play a different disc in the DVD player. Try playing a different audio source through the television or receiver. Connect the DVD player to a different audio input on the television or receiver.

BTW, you can also make use of some player to play DVD on PC. Here I recommend you some free player to play HEVC, DVD and etc.

Have a check on your DVD player. If the DVD player is inexpensive or far older, probably it's the high time to change a new one.

Check whether your DVD disc is in good condition physically and has some scratches or damages or not.

Figure out the DVD disc is homemade burnt or commercial one since the homemade disc and commercial disc utilize different codecs. So try to make it clear what type of files your DVD player supports and make sure your DVDs are in that format. If not, have a try on Leawo Blu-ray Ripper, to 1:1 rip DVD to VOB, MKV, MP4, AVI, HEVC, H264, etc. formats. Thus, you can play DVD movie on HDTV via USB port in digital format without using DVD player.

Try changing the audio output for source MPEG from Bitstream to PCM. Worked for me with SVCD discs that had no audio.

I copied a tv programme onto my lg dvd rh 735t hard drive and then wanted to copy onto a dvd disc. it copied a perfect picture BUT NO SOUND. please help.

It is unlikely not to have copied the audio, You don't say what device you are trying to play the file on. If it's your computer you need to have the correct codec installed for the type of audio in the file. First try installing VLC VideoLAN Official page for VLC media player the Open Source video...
if that fails then here is the codec you need
Free Download DivX 264 Decoder 8 2 0 26

Some units jusy won't play certain types of recorded DVD discs. I would transfer one to a DVD+R type and see what happens. Buy a good brand like Memorex.

Can't transfer dubbed audio (secondary sound) using firewire.

Audio Dubbing on DV: Here's how you do this: Play your tape on the TRV-9 and feed the signal into the TRV-900, using the Firewire connector. Set the TRV-900's audio option to record in the 12-bit mode. When this is done, you will have the video re-recorded on the TRV-900 and the audio laid down on the primary 12-bit audio channel. Then, you can run the tape back through for a 2nd pass in the TRV-900, with the recorder set to the audio-dubbing mode. The audio you put into the TRV-900 this time, will be recorded on the secondary 12-bit channel. You can select either 12-bit channel when you play the edited tape back or you can mix both stereo channels into the output. Once you record on the 16-bit channel, you can't dub audio back onto that recording, without erasing the original channel, as the recording space for both 12-bit channels is occupied. You can't selectively re-record just audio onto the 16-bit channel either, without the video being re-recorded along with it. Both video and audio are sent over the same Firewire connector, so you can't input them from mixed sources, as you can with analog recordings. Only the secondary 12-bit audio channel can be used in the audio-dubbing mode. You can't dub onto the 16-bit channel or onto the primary 12-bit channel. The primary 12-bit channel can be used only when you're recording video along with it.
