The loading port is on the bottom of the reciever. You mention that it is "magazine ready"? Mossberg shotguns have a tublular magazine underneath the barrel, surrounded by the action bar and front grip.
Loading the magazine entails holding the shotgun in one hand, taking the shell in the other with the folded end facing the front end of the barrel. Place the shell in the magazine opening (on the bottom) and push it up with your fingers and forward with the thumb of the same hand. It will go completely forward of the silver/blue lifter and stay there when you let go. (the action must be closed to load the magazine).
Alternately, you can open the action and pop a shell into the ejection port on the right side, close it back up, and shoot!

The button underneath is called the "Action Lock" It is meant to let you open the chamber without having to put pressure on the trigger. There is something wrong as you should be able to cycle /pump/load without pressing it.
Has the trigger assembly been removed or cleaned recently? Was the hammer allowed to drop while it was out? It is slightly possible that it wasn't replaced or positioned perfectly. I don't think so but it is always a possible thing to check.
I do think you need to take this into the shop and have an expert get hands on with it. It should be something fairly minor. I would suggest you also not use it until you get it checked out. Parts are available for this as it is basically a 500/800 series so it won't be expensive or difficult to make it work perfectly again.
