Faint Pink blotches on a white or light colored screen

Had all factory upgrades done to TV 12-03-2010 including NEW Light Engine. Actually was wondering if the guns and rear of the screen needs a cleaning/dusting. We had Hardwood Floors redone 8 months ago and have found excess dust in all kinds of odd places throughout the house since.

SOURCE: Location of MIrrors in projection tv

wd-52525 This is a DLP, I dont suggest taking it apart to clean anything, this is what we call a MICRO display, the imaging device is about 1" square and blown up 50X to the size of the pix you watch, anytime anyone I know has taken stuff appart where the mirror is at has ended up worse off, you say that there is dust on the mirror, what does it look like in your picture? If the spots are quarter size or so and fuzzy edges the dust is inside the lightengine and you want a factory cleanroom to service the LE, the one thing I think you can safely do is pull the lamp and check for dust on it as it can cause issues in pix, other than that I dunno what to tell you, hope this info helps.

SOURCE: distorted colors on my mitsubishi wd-73727

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs. To get fixed either call in a local TV repair company or goto sites such as Tv Repair Kits to get a repair kit with instructions. Here is there link.

They have put together complete kits for most models that include the parts, step by step photo instructions, repair assistance, etc.

There are color spots all over screen-pt-61lcx35

This, sadly is getting to be a very common problem with all Projection LCD TV's
Colored Blotches on an LCD Projection TV are usually caused by defects or marks on filters or lenses or one of the LCD panels themselves which are all located in the light engine (or optical block) First confirm that the lamp or main lens is not discolored by removing the lamp (unplug set and let cool before removing!) and inspecting the lamp itself and the lens that it shine onto. The light engine is an expensive part ($600-$1200) to replace and requires major disassembly. Get an estimate -Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Blotchy screen

You'll probably need a new optical engine for your TV. Sony extended the warranty for some of their LCD projections but I think that the warranty extensions have all ended. Try Sony.com for more info.

Faint red blotches on the screen of my 52inch sony wega

If this is the model with a light engine, then there lies your problem. Your filters in the engine are burning up. The light engine will need to be replaced. If this is an older model with the 3 tubes you might be able to adjust your red green and blue tubes to get the picture back in good standings. Please keep in mind when asking questions to include both the make and model number. This will help us help you more efficiently.
