Samsung DVD recorder will play but not record blank discs

The recorder is a combined dvd and vcr. It will play prerecorded films fine but when I try to record on a blank dvd it rejects the disc saying it can neither be read or played. Are there different formats of disc to record on that it may recognise?

I have the same problem, Eventually it will not read anything, Try a lens disc cleaner before it stops reading everything. It may work. Mine wont even recognize the cleaner disc. Dont spend too much to repair there are inexpensive recorders out there for about 150.00. Most of my searches have resulted in comments that suggest this unit is a piece of junk.

Had mine into the repair shop. Junk it, processor is toast. Not worth the money to fix. The guy said he wouldn't even touch it.

Try to play a dvd in the recorder.If it plays the DVD, most likely the recorder is fine If not, the lens is dirty or the recorder has a problem.You can also try a different brand of DVD/rw

It won't recognise a blank dvd.......its says "The disc cannot be played....please check the disc" I HAVE A DVD VR 357

check the disc in your PC if this finds it as a blank dvd then possible play head error.

Use a DVD+/-RW and use Imageburn to full erase then try this one in the recorder this may work if not a possible motor failure on the spindle

Dmr-ES30V Dvd plays pre record movies fine but I

Try a different brand of blank dvd+r or -r. you will find that your dvd machine is fussy on what discs it plays. More exspensive dvd players are fussy with what dvd discs you put in, as cheaper dvd players would virtualy play most types of dvds.

Anything I have recorded onto DVD from TV wont play on any other machines. It will only play on this machine I recorded on. It is the same make and model mentioned here.

If you're not using DVD+RW blanks (VERBATIM work fine), then try them. DVD-RW blanks will not play on any machine but the one that recorded the disk (according to the manual.)

DVD-VR320 combo DVD player

I think its the dvd players internal settings that need to be adjusted. If there is a menu set the sky box to the connection it is plugged into. Although this might sound strange some units when you connect them up will play fine through that input but unless the settings of the player is adjusted iut will record a blank screen because its default setting for recording might not be either the connection method you are using or the input you are using. I hope this makes sense.

Dvds recorded on Samsung will ONLY play on Samsung

Hi,

Have you finalised the disc before trying to play it elsewhere? If not this could well be the problem. The option is the menu.

Some blank DVD+R discs will not read on my DVD player

The JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo does not suppport DVD+R, only DVD-R, -RW etc.
At least mine only supports these formats, as when I first bought mine, I got some blank DVD's they were DVD+R.
I recorded a movie onto one on my PC, then tried playing it in the JVC unit... no go!
Instruction manual (available for D/load online) proved to me that I could not play +R disks!!

I bought DVD-R 1-16xspeed made by TDK which work fine.... it seems to be a bit of a mine field of discs available but I do remember these were recommended by Samsung via a leaflet in the box.

Record from VHS to DVD

i should imagine so if they are not copy protected films i.e shop ones .if they are tv films on tapes etc then it would be possible to do so.
via insert the vhs tape and insert the blank dvd in to its tray
play the vhs tape and press rec to record on to dvd .
although the manual might give a better guide to doing this .
