I know that it should make sense with no zeros , how can you change it?

SOURCE: Singular matrix error

I had this problem as well...Were you working on a SinReg equation by any chance? I was able to do every other type of regression (Linear, quadratic, cubic, ect..) In order to get Sinusoidal regression you need to make sure you arrow down to the Period box when entering the equation, and fill it in with the number of items in your table of values (a ten item list means a period of 10). That was the fix for me, so hopefully it works for you!

How to model real life data?

What is the question?
Put your calculator in STAT mode (2-var statistics or regression )
Enter your data in two lists, preferably sorted according to the x-value
Choose a regression model from the ones available and get the calculator to give you the best fit.
However to see which regression model best fits you data you need a graphing calculator to draw the scatter plot, then superpose on the scatter plot the curve of best fit given by the regression model.

Once you accept a model as the most suited one, you can use the equation of the curve to predict a y-value given an x-value (what ever REAL LIFE meaning they might have)

Matrix entering and constants

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the HP 10S calculator does not perform matrix calculations.
You have 9 variables A to F, M, X and Y. You can use them to store data, constants, calculation results, and other numerical values.
To store say the value 5674 in Variable A you press the key sequence 5 6 7 4 [SHIFT] [STO] A.
To recall the value stored in A (and use it in another calculation) you press [ALPHA] [A]. It will be displayed and you can do with it any calculation you want.
You can enter (store) data in Statistics modes
  • Mode 2 is for standard deviation SD (1-variable statistics)
  • Mode 3 is for Regressions.
You will have to read the manual starting from page 23.

Can't do inverse of matrices

The problem is with the data. The calculator is telling you that your matrix is singular. Inverting a singular matrix is analogous to dividing by 0. Just as you can't divide by 0, you can't invert a singular matrix.

If you think that the inverse exists, double check the entries in the matrix.
