Incorrect times on wash cycles

My neptune MAH5500BWW font load washer suddenly has the incorrect times on the wash cycles-quick wash 61 minutes, light soil 89, normal 95 and heavy 99. We were away for a week and did lose power, but machine was not in use. Can I reset the times?

  • tpiehl Jan 21, 2009

I am having the same problem. My wash times are much longer. We had issues with a frozen pipe, so I was not sure if that started the problem.

My 8 year old Neptune has the exact same problem. The repairman says to use it until it quits altogether ; he could not reccommend putting any money into the machine.

You dont need to reset the times, all that has changed is the soil type. in example, light, regular or heavy. that is what causes the times to change.
you just need to push the options button until it shows the type of cycle you want.
also make sure you have the proper cycle selected and then look to see what other options are selected. you just have too many options turned on, so look at the controls to see what is different then you remember.

I use the same options all the time, I know which options to use; my wash time has increased not my options.

Maytag neptune mah5500bbw wont spin going through cycle

My Maytag Neptune MAH5500B or MAH5500BWW wouldn't spin either. It would go all the way through the wash cycle, agitation and all, as mentioned before, the spin cycle would start at the 9 minute mark, and get down to the 7 minutes then drop directly to 0 with no spin at all.

After hours of investigation it turned out the balance load switch was corroded. This switch is accessible through the front panel of the washer. The door must be removed and the front panel comes off, this switch is directly under the wash drum where there is a little electrical plug and switch which rests on top of stabilizer styrofoam. The connection was being made but there was green corrosion, and evidently the switch box was corroded within. When bypassed, the washer spun perfectly.

Hope this helps someone else out there - I was horrified to think that this washer would end up more landfill as it wouldn't be worthwhile to pay hundreds for a new motor control board as had been suggested was the problem.

MAYTAG NEPTUNE FRONT LOAD WASHER MAH5500BWW

Central bearing and seal are damaged. Very expensive repair and very expensive parts. Maytag does not sell bearings separately, they're only available with the outer tub, which is $400-$500; Repair itself is another 2-3 hours of hard work. Do the math...

Neptune mah5500bww

I've had the same problem with a Neptune MAH3000. I replaced the mother board to no avail. I replaced the timer control to no avail. I then replaced the door lock assembly (wax motor, door switch, etc.) and problem solved. Luckily, I had another machine that I could rob parts from.

My neptune was 30 min for a quick wash and is now 55 min

Terri, you may need to contact Maytag on this one. Here is service bulletin that was released in June of 2002... "Date: June, 2002 No: TDL0008A-S, MAH5500BWW, MAH5500BWQ Issue Software Improvements: A software improvement was introduced to the machine control board. The improvements focused on. Reducing the number of wet clothes loads, spinning and draining complaints. Modifications to the time estimation displayed toward the end of spin cycle. Display will no longer fluctuate erratically, time remaining. ?dO? is no longer displayed when the door is open. Warranty See specific product for warranty information. Action This board modification was phased into production without a series change. Inventory at the National Parts Center was purged and replaced with the new control board." Hope this helps.
