Remove the winding stem/crown.

Removing the stem on a manual wind-up wrist watch can be a delicate task, as it requires some knowledge of watch mechanics. Here are the general steps to remove the stem on a Westclox W3 manual wind-up wrist watch:

1. Make sure that the watch is not wound.
2. Use a small screwdriver to remove the crown from the watch. This is typically done by gently pressing down on the crown and twisting it counterclockwise.
3. Once the crown is removed, you should be able to see the stem.
4. Use a stem removal tool to push the stem out of the movement. A stem removal tool is a specialized tool that is designed to remove stems from watches, it can be found in most watch repair kits.
5. Carefully remove the stem from the movement.
6. Once the stem is removed, you should be able to access the movement of the watch for repairs or maintenance.

• Setting an Elgin stem-set pocket watch. Pull the stem out of the crown at the 12 o'clock position of an Elgin stem-set pocket watch. Rotate the stem clockwise to move the hands to the correct hour and minute. Depress the stem and wind the crown to keep the watch running.

Unscrew the crown by turning it counter clockwise until the crown is free from the stem. Then turn it clockwise six times. After this step push the crown in and continue turning it clockwise until it is once again screwed back on to them stem. DO NOT SKIP THE LAST STEP because although the watch will operate in the winding position it no longer water proof. A simple drop of water in the stem would mean death for your watch. If you wear the watch everyday I suggest you wind it once or twice a month.

Wow, how wrong yall are.

There are three positions for the Carrera's push-down crown. The inner position is used for normal wear and winding. To wind the crown manually, simply rotate it clockwise.

Changing the date on the Carrera is done from the middle crown position. Turn the crown clockwise to advance the date, one day at a time. Push the crown back to the inner position when finished.

The outer crown position is used for setting the time. You can turn the crown in this position either clockwise or counter-clockwise. Adjust the time forward or backwards. Setting the time backwards will not damage the watch. When the time is correct, press the crown all the way into the inner position.

The knob that adjusts the time is called the crown, and it will have a stem attached to it. You will need to remove crown and stem together.
If it's a screw-down crown, unscrew it.
Examine the watch mechanism very carefully while pulling out the crown (as if you were adjusting the time) and pushing it back, What you are looking for is basically anything that moves. If you do see parts of the mechanism move, look very carefully around that area for an arrow mark impressed in the metal pointing to a small dip in one of the metal parts.Often, this is on a tiny lever but not all manufacturers bother with the arrow.
Ensure that the crown is pushed back to it's normal position. Put a tiny amount of pressure on the dip (a needle is ideal for this), and carefully attempt to pull out crown and stem.You may need to apply slightly more pressure to get a result, but please take care not to press too hard or you may damage the mechanism.
Hopefully, that should sort it out. To refix the numeral bar, I'd recommend super glue - but you only need a tiny, tiny amount. Apply it with the tip of a needle and you shouldn't go far wrong.
Once you're looking at reassembly, you should be able to reinsert the crown and stem without depressing the dip but do it gently and don't force it - it may need a slight turn to relocate properly before it slides back in.

mcdevito75 here, If your Fossil watch has a winding stem it may have 2 positions, gently place a fingernail under the crown and lift as gently as possilble, this should allow you to adjust the date without having to cycle thru the 24 hours to get to the date you want. It may take practise but that first position should be there, Set the date to 1 day before the date you need, then set the watch normally the full 24 hour cycle to get the date you want, this way the watch date will set as suppose to at about mid-night for the next days date.

mcdevito75 here, There are many versions of Foosil watch, If yours has a stem (winder) it"s 2 position, to set Day pull stem out and rotate the hands till the day appears, push stem in all the way, Now slip your fingernail just under the crown and lift stem to it"s first position this will allow the date to change. mcdevito75 here, You may not be able to fix your fossil watch, it"sa quartz and once the crown and stem came out, the mechanism that holds it in plce may be broke.

DKNY is typically a quartz movement and doesn't have a "winder". I believe the part you are referring to is the crown. The watch may have stopped working for several reasons. The first three things I would suspect is that the battery died, the watch is in the set position, or the movement was damaged when the crown was coming off. If the watch is in the set position then pushing the stem in will cause the watch to run. The next thing to do is to replace the battery since it is only a few bucks. If it runs then you can replace the crown and your set. If it doesn't run I would suggest replacing the movement along with the crown and that you will have to price and see if it is within reason since this type of repair wont be covered under warranty.
Depending on the model of DKNY you may have to go through DKNY for the part. Remember that they are manufactured by Fossil. You could save yourself a lot of time by going to your local watch repair shop.

The pin you called it is the stem and crown try this technic before you bring or send it to a service center.Put it back where you taken it out ,while puting it in wind the crown and push it gently inside so it locked it up by pushing it gently inside.Check it out if not pulled out again the stem and crown if not and still coming out there something broken inside
