Do you need to unscrew crown to set time and date? Stays in locked position until I loosen crown. Is this a feature?
Yes, you must unscrew the crown before you wind up or set the watch. Always screw the crown down afterwards this keeps the watch in a water resistant condition.
As you have been told already yes tou must unsrew the crown. Another thing you should do to help keep your crown and tube from stripping is push your crown in as if to srew in BUT go backwards untill you either feel a bump or a click and then go forwards, this will help to seat the tap and prevent stripping of tube and crown tap. Rolex tubes and crowns are expensive, try to preserve them as long as you can!!!
