Hi my ti-89 won't turn on, i've tried putting in new batteries

It sounds like the charging port on your phone is broken. This could have happened a number of ways. Either by dropping your phone, putting the charger in wrong, or taking it out wrong. If you call HTC(866-449-8358) and it is still under warranty they will probably fix it for free as long as it doesn't have any water damage(http://www.ehow.com/how_4479971_check-cell-phone-water-damage.html). Otherwise you could also get a new phone.

if non of the keys are working dont install the OS its possible that
one of the keys is stuck or some acid from the battery is leaked inside if you can open the calc check for spots of liquid or acid

try taking out the triple A batteries and leaving the calculator to sit with them out for a minute or so, replace them and check if it's fixed. If that doesn't work you can do the same, but take out the small button back up battery as well. If you're still not having luck you should call ti cares (800-842-2737) they're usually helpful.

If you're willing to have all RAM cleared, try a hard reset.

Press and hold the 2ND, Left-arrow, and Right-arrow keys.
Press and release the ON key.

If you connect calculator to computer using Ti connect device explorer you might be able to see what files are on the calculator. I don't know if you downloaded from the web but, 3rd party programs and shells tent to miss up the calculator. This would able you to delete out possible problems which could be re installed later.

I've did the same thing but, with Ti Connect Device Explorer software, I was able to reinstall the OS software. If it is that unresponsive take out all batteries including the backup battery for about 4 hours. I had to do that one time just to get unlocked from the graphing APP. Ti one time told me to miss with the arrow and ESC keys, and it works sometimes. Good Luck, and I hope this helps your posted problem.

Well, in most calculators, the action of taking out the backup battery practically clears the whole thing. Memory, everything. I myself have a Ti-89 and have not yet experienced this problem, but I have on an older Ti-82 and removed the backup battery and the whole thing is dead now, or at least nothing happens when I turn it on, even after replacing the batteries again. If you still have the manual, I would check out the troubleshooting. If you don't have it, try to find it online. And if you have done both of these things, try getting hold of technical support through Texas Instruments.

I had the same problem... This may sound really weird but I tried two sets of energizer batteries and pressed restart a lot.. nothing.. Then my friend pulled out her duracell from her calculator and they worked... Then we put the energizer in my other friends calculator and they also work... So yea try to put in duracell batteries and press restart.. Weirdest advice ever but it just worked for me...
