My Emerson DVD player says Disc Error Playback feature may not be available on this disc

The error message "Disc Error Playback feature may not be available on this disc" can have a few different causes. Here are some of the most common:
  • The disc is not compatible with the DVD player. Some DVD players are only compatible with certain regions or formats of discs. If the disc you are trying to play is not compatible with your DVD player, you will get this error message.
  • The disc is damaged. If the disc is scratched, dirty, or otherwise damaged, it may not be able to be read by the DVD player.
  • The DVD player is faulty. If the DVD player is faulty, it may not be able to read discs correctly.
Here are some things you can try to fix the problem:
  • Try playing the disc in another DVD player. If the disc plays in another DVD player, then the problem is with your DVD player.
  • Clean the disc. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the disc. Be careful not to scratch the disc.
  • Format the disc. If the disc is formatted for a different region or format, you may need to format it for your DVD player.
  • Reset the DVD player. If the DVD player is faulty, you may need to reset it.
If you have tried all of these things and you are still getting the error message, then you may need to replace the DVD player.

How do I change region code on Pyle pd1000a? Need region 1 and all I get is not formatted to play in this region error message. Don't know what region this thing is programmed to but need to change. Pyle...

When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player.
Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada
Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa
Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/
South America
Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian
subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China
The only way to get around the region codes, is to rip a DVD to your computer and remove the region code. Then burn the DVD to a DVD R. There are programs around on the net, but I'm not sure it is legal in all countries.
Google for the programs.
A DVD player sometimes allows you to change the region code once. But it not even would allow you to switch back after you changed it once.

I am from New Zealand . I recently played a DVD disc from the U.S. which is region 1. I had to change the region setting on the bluray drive to play it. I tried to play a region 4 disc on it, and after...

Ask the people you purchased the bluray drive to give you instruction on how to reset (usually is about 5 times and then it gets stuck in the last region used, the Blu-ray region is set in the playback software, not the drive.). You may also want to try re-install the software, which resets it. Good luck.

I have a dvd recorder/player Rca DRC8052N

you need the crack ! it seems that your players might have a onboard misfonction! it maybe coded for region 2,3 who knoes anyway try this its a workaround that usually works on lots of dvd players to unlock regions !

Press the title button on your remote, then hit 01. This will take you to the first title on the disc and bypass the region lock. To get to the main menu, do a chapter/title skip until you get to the end of the disc. This will take you to the main menu.

DVD Player will not play 20th Century FOX disks

The Panasonic is not "region restricted". This is a security safeguard by studios to keep people from region 1 from using region 3 content. Some material is released in other countries first and later in others. This keeps other regions from using the content from other parts of the world before it is relaesed by the studio there. Your Zenith is not a region free player and the Panasonic is. There is sometimes hacks on Videohelp.com for DVD players to be set to "region free" but not all DVD players are built with it. SONY is another non-hackable DVD player.
