Washer was washing a load and started to make a noise and a few mins later it quite agitating. I tried to get it to pump out the water and it wouldn't do that either nor will it spin. when I turn it on it sounds as though the motor is humming. I can turn the part of the agitater that sticks above the water, freely in a clockwise direction but not counterclockwise and the part of the agitater in the bottom of the drum won't move in either direction by hand.
What you have here is a broken drive coupling
the part looks like this:

also I just found a small pencil shaped (3/4" long) white plastic part with a piece broken off it, that looks like it came from where the tansmission attaches to the motor. there is also what seems to be a pile of black belt dust under the washer on the floor. I was under the impression that there is no belt and it is gear driven? the washer is appx 9 yrs old: is it worth fixing?
Thanks for your help.
