Air pumps help add oxygen to the aquarium water. The smaller the bubbles from the air stone, filter, etc, the better the oxygen exchange is. Additionally, air pumps can aid in the circulation of the water and helping maintain a uniform temperature in the tank. Fish do not breathe air, they exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide thru their gills. Adding an air pump and an air stone into your tank will make the fish healthier, happier, and help maintain better water quality.

Aquarium air pump allows for better humidification in conjunction with perlite, and lava rocks. It also provides automatic aeration pushing the C02 up and out the FAE holes in the PMP lid, so there is no need for misting or fanning.
