My husband wants to buy nightstands so we have somewhere to put our phones, books etc when we go to sleep but I hate anything too traditional. Any alternative ideas for nightstands?

Why not get a wall mounted shelf next to your bed like this one -





This way, you will have enough space to maneuver in and out of bed, coupled with the amenity of having somewhere to put a bedside lamp/book to read.

Basically it was ugly. The drive enclosure wasn't easy to open and got destroyed.
However, on the Bonus side, I was able to pull the drive out and put it into another enclosure and now it doesn't go to sleep unless I say so. HooRay!!
Sadly it isn't on FireWire anymore but on a much slower USB2. But I'll take the USB over the aggravation of the drive constantly going to sleep. It's easier but buy a FireWire enclosure than stopping the sleep cycle.
I don't want to EVER see a Maxtor OneTouch Plus 4 1TB in my office ever again.
