The best flea shampoo i ever used was Rid-ex. The dogs i had were allergic to fleas and summer was the worst. So a combination of Rid-ex and a spray the vet had, can't remember what it was called but it went on smelling kinda like rubbing alcohol, which made it dry almost instantly, but when dry it smelled like baby powder. Just tell your vet that description, and he'll know. But Rid-ex by itself works really good too. Hope this helps you out.

Flea shampoo should be applied on your pet as directed. Does work as flea control as long as application and directions are followed. A flea collar is recommended for your pet to keep your dog free of fleas for at least 3 to 6 months.
There is NO "over the counter" solution for the fleas of today according to my Vet! She said it makes her mad they still sell the over the counter stuff because it rarely can eliminate all of the fleas and often does more damage your the animal while the fleas continue to thrive!. Our elderly dog almost died because we used an "in house" treatment rather than "bother" the vet with our "little" problem. Take your animal to the vet first! Please! Monkey is still with us but definitely a half step slower...
If you are giving your cat a flea bath, wet the area around its neck first. Fleas will try to escape to the dry areas of the cat, which can mean a mass exodus of fleas to the head and face while you are bathing. A wet neck will keep them off the head, and in contact with the water and flea shampoo.
Flea shampoos are a good place to start with dogs (cats not as much). Just don't forget that this is not the solution. Flea shampoos definitely help, but will only be effective for a day or two.
I cannot say whether
or not I know any of these methods work but I found a website with 5 natural
methods towards flea control. I highly
recommend talking them through with your veterinarian before trying them. Good luck.
