I have an Officejet L7780. HP Support told me to try pressing # and 6 simultaneously while plugging in the printer. Several attempts later nothing.
Pressing # and 3 worked for me to reset the printer. I have an Officejet L7780. HP Support told me to try pressing # and 6 simultaneously while plugging in the printer. Several attempts later nothing.

You can't post conmments that contain an email address.
Disconnect the power cord from the back of the unit.
Press and hold the # and 3 buttons simultaneously.
While still holding down the # and 3 buttons, connect the power cord to the back of the unit.
Continue holding the buttons until the Power button blinks.
Follow the instructions that display on the unit to select the language settings.
Then when that's done, try printing, or copying items. If its still not working, check the ink and change those out and this should fix it.

I had the same error. When you press the power key, the printer reboots and gives a warning message for improper shutdown. For some reason, it is not fully going through the normal shut down procedure before the reboot, and apparently not clearing it's memory. Solve this as follows:
Press the Power Key and allow it to reboot.
When you get the improper shutdown message, hit 'OK'.
Right after, once you see the normal status screen and the printer starts making it's funky warm up noises, press the Power Key once again to invoke a normal Shutdown. The screen should say "Shutting Down" at the bottom as it goes through the normal sequence of clearing memory, etc.
Once it reboots, resend the job to the printer, - everything should now be A-ok!
Note: A semi-full reset will do the following: The user settings to the factory defaults, Language and country settings on some models, Fax logs, Fax headers, Fax speed dial information.
Reset the All-in-One to the factory default settings by using these instructions:
1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on and wait for 20 seconds.
2. Then, press and hold # and 6 while plugging in the power cord.
Continue holding until it displays Semi Full Reset message in the front panel of the All-in-One.
The solution 1-3 doesen't fix my problem.
It could be a problem with the fast or quick printing mode. To fix it, settings on normal mode and after printing of some papers in this made try the fast or quick mode again.
