SOURCE: LG fridge suddenly stopped cooling.

If the fan inside the freezer is running and the compressor behind the fridge is running and is hot to touch, you have a gas problem or the compressor is inefficient. This can only be confirmed by connecting refrigeration gauges to the gas system and should only be performed by a fridge tech.

SOURCE: Kenmore Model # 596.735032.. Fridge is cool, Freezer is not freezing

After pulling the fridge away from the wall and removing the lower right hand panel I noticed that the compressor (big round black ball with copper tubing) was not turning on. I also noticed that there was a ticking or popping sound comming from it every couple of minutes or so. After doing some research online in numerouse forums I decided to try and replace the overheat relay that is attached to the compressor. It only took maybie five minutes at most to change it and the compressor is now working with nice cold air comming into the fridge and freezer. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem.

SOURCE: Hotpoint HTS22GBMARWW refrigerator w top freezer - not cooling

Hi,
This seems to be a model with an automatic defrost cycle.
The good news - is that everything major is working.
The bad news - it doesn't know when it needs to defrost or cool.

The reset is simply to turn it off for 10 minutes as there is no memory storage on these.

Hotpoint have a little get-out-phrase that they use sometimes - location.
If the room is too cold - it can sometimes affect the temperature difference between inside and outside the unit enough to make it think it needs to defrost. I think it's 15 degrees C that things start going wrong.

If the room is fine, then it is probably the freezer sensor that is strapped to the cooling coil at the back inside the freezer compartment. This tells the control when it's frozen solid - and needs defrosting. If it is not sending the correct resistance to the control, it can either defrost too much - or not at all.

If you can turn it off, and get to it to check it, check the contacts first, clean them if possible, replace covers and try again. If no change you will need a replacement. Some models you cannot even get to it, so if this is the case, a replacement control board is needed, or the wires from it need terminating together - dependent on model.

SOURCE: Model is GSS25WGMD WW No cooling in freezer or refrigerator

look for ice or forst build up on the rear wall of freezer compartment, sounds like you may have a defrost problem. this will affect temps in freezer and refrig. the most common def problems for GE are bad defrost heaters. these are model specific and fairly easy to replace your self. i got this part number form Sears.com WR51X10055 good luck peyton

SOURCE: Frigidaire Side By Side Not Cooling

That sounds like the start relay is buzzing. Unplug and lets check the compressor to see how hot and if too hot to hold your hand on the top of compressor we need to leave it unplugged until we find out if the start relay, start capacitor, overload or if the condenser fan stops after running a short while. I had a unit that was similar and there were screws hidden under plastic caps. If you can see plastic catches, you use a tool called a 'spudger' which is like a blunt butter knife. They come in plastic or metal.

Refrigerator not cooling...makes hissing noise

From your problem description I would say it sounds like maybe the condenser fan is not running. If that fan does not run, the compressor will overheat, and get very unhappy, LOUDLY. There is a fiberboard cover on the back of the unit, unplug the unit, remove the cover and inspect the fan, it should turn freely if you nudge it with your finger. If it does not turn freely, you will need to make it so by lube, removing foreign object (dead mouse once for me) dust dragons etc... or replace the fan if necessary.

Sounds like a bad fan

Over time, everything gets old. I suggest buying a "Inter-cooler" it helps keep everything cool, and takes a little less pressure off the fan.

1st 80Gb ps3 model gets hot really fast..

Make sure that your not placing your system on any sort of carpet or rug this will cause the system to overheat. Also check the fan on the back of the system and make sure that the fan is clean and not full of dust and other sorts of stuff. If this does not stop then i would go buy a cooling fan for it just to make sure it dont fry the motherboard!!

Profile 5 shuts off on its on

Sound either like a Overheating or a Power Supply Unit issue. You may need to clean the thermal gel off the CPU and heatsink with a small amount of rubbing alcohol and apply new gel. Make sure your fans are working correctly and make sure there isn't any dust under the fan on the heat sink it self, as this will cause overheating issues... Also, if you suspect the PSU you can usually get a nicer one than you have now for $50, so it is better to go ahead and replace it if it is old. The pop sound makes me lean more towards the side of power / PSU but this sound could simply be from the hard drive lossing power suddenly.
