Dell Printer problem

I have a Dell 5100cn and went to print something and error code: 009-362 Restart Printer. Well, powered off, unpluged ...no go. Called Dell and they believe it is the Cyan toner causing the problem because I put in an empty Cyan toner and the error message went away, then I put in the NON-DALL Cyan toner and the error message was back. I called the place where I got the toner and they are coming out Friday with a nrew Cyan toner. Hope that works. Any ideas??

    Robert, thanks for the response. Yes it was supposed to be a "machine compatible" toner.

    GOOD NEWS! The vendor brought out a new Cyan Toner and instantly the printer worked. Thank all of you who responded.

Generic toners often cause this error. Was the cyan you purchased a aftermarket compatible?

    I would stick with the factory origional toner if I were you if you. Obviously the compatible is the source of your trouble. Or try a compatible from a completely different supplier to see if you can find one that works with your Dell 5100.

First off, this is a comment from a random person who may or may not know ALOT about these printers and toner/printer design in general. All toners are not designed to the same specification. Toner is a combination of plastic "pigment" and iron like shavings to make it magentically attracted to the electrical charges within the unit. Different toners conform to different grades and mainly size of the particles within the blend. The manufacturer doesnt only recommend that you use their toner to make them money, yes of course it makes money, but its because when the unit is designed it is designed to use a certain grade of toner, trust me if you put the non-branded toner vs the branded toner under a microscope you would see quite a difference. Often the non-branded toner is much larger in particle size (obviousely because its cheaper to make at this spec). This causes a variety of issues from excess toner not being cleaned off of developer rollers, IDT rollers, or clogging of toner dispenser tubes in the unit and the micro filters contained at the toner dispenser assy and developer assys. Also as for the issue not changing when switching to dell branded toner - the dispenser tubes within this unit contain up to 500-1000 pages worth of toner, making no change in toner you make immediately visible. Also depending on the damage caused by the previous toner, it may not be able to be fixed until all the components in between the toner and final delivery (drum cart) are replaced. In this case more than likely the toner dispenser assy, all developer assy's, and drum cartridge need to be replaced, and than be sure to stick with factory branded toner :)

ahmad, does the printer show as default? if not make it. Try test print and make sure all printer compartment are securely closed.

Error code 010-397 dell printer 5100. Have change fuser and restart printer keeps coming up as error message

) The fuser gets very Hot!! Let cool for 10 minutes after turning off the power and unplugging the copier!

2) Pull the two blue locking tabs forward and remove the fuser unit. Reinsert and push back on the tabs to lock back into place. Sometimes just reinserting the fuser will allow the catch on the locking tab to function correctly and push the trigger on the sensing unit. Turn the copier back on and pray the error code doesn't reappear..
3) Mine reappeared. Evidently the catch on the fuser unit was still not pushing the trigger forward, causing the copier to surmise that no fuser unit was installed.

010 397 Error Message on Dell 5100cn

The following steps are the troubleshooting steps that should be followed for error code 010 397.
First, the definition of the failure is <IOT Fuser Failure>, and means a Fuser Error is detected.

1) With power off, reseat the fuser by physically removing it from the printer, then reinstalling it and locking it in place. Turn the power back on. ( if the error is still present, proceed to step 2 ).

2) If reseating the fuser did not resolve the problem, Replace the fuser with a known good fuser.
( if problem is not resolved, proceed to step 3)

3) Replace the LVPS ( low voltage power supply ). ( if problem not resolved, proceed to step 4 ).

4) Replace the PWBA MCU ( printed wiring board assembly - machine control unit ).

END of troubleshooting.........

In most cases, the fuser itself is the problem. If you tried to reseat or replace the fuser while power was still on, the LVPS could have been damaged just as if there were an electrical storm.

Error Message 016-370 restart computer

turn off the printer

1. Connect the printer through USB.
2. hold the enter button (the one in the middle of the circle) with the cancel button simultaneously
3. turn on the printer you will see the following message on the LCD screen
4. " download mode… ready"
5. Start the firmware update from the computer.
6. The LCD will change to "writing…"
7. After about 10 minutes it will prompt you to restart the printer.
