If you hit the "-" sign and the hit the "ln log" button twice then enter your number that works I have the same calc.

SOURCE: Using the correct key combination to determine inverse log

Hi,
Sorry to contradict you but there are many types of logarithms, the most important ones are

  1. the common logarithms (log in base 10),
  2. the natural logarithms (logarithms in base e)
  3. the binary logarithms (logarithms in base 2)
On calculators, the common logarithms are labeled [LOG], and the natural logarithms are labeled [LN].

The inverse function of the natural log function is the exponential (e^(x)), and the inverse of the log in base ten function is the function ten to the power of. It is called (sometimes) the antilog

Ex:
Question What is the antilog of 3.5678?
Answer The antilog of 3.5678 is 10^(3.5678) = 3696.579068
Verification: log(3696.57908) =3.5678

Hope it helps.

What button do you push on the TI-86 calculator to do the inv log function?

For the inverse natural log, press 2nd LN. For the inverse common log, press 2nd LOG.

For example, to calculate the inverse natural log of 2, press 2nd LN 2 ENTER and you'll get about 7.389 .

Which calculator is better the TI 36X II(either batery or solar) or teh casio fx-115ES, the price its not a concern its the properties and functions of each one. im gonna study for engineer, and my TI...

Hi,
I would certainly upgrade my choice to the FX-991ES. It can do (numerical) integrals, derivatives, it has 40 physical constants (instead of 8). It can do unit conversions, and the Natural display is a real pleasure.
Don't get me wrong, I am no TI calculator basher. I have just bought the TiNspire, AND TINspire CAS. I have a TI92, a TI83, Ti BA 35Solar.
If you do become an engineer, the calculators you might want to use (not during the exams) are the TI 89 Titanium, HP49G+/HP50G, the Casio ClassPad 330. You see I recommend the TI89 Titanium because there is a wealth of Engineering programs written for it.

Hope it makes your decision easier.

On a TI 36X what is the button used to solve probabilty?

That depends on what you mean by "solve probability." You could study probability for a year in college and not come close to covering all the types of probability problems. Do you want the number of combinations or permutations? The upper or lower tail of some probability distribution? The inverse distribution?
