I was replacing the pump on my LG WM3431HW... I took the pump motor off from the back side of the washer... since it was hard to reach i was able to unscrew and disconnect the electrical wires but didnt see clearly which wires were connected to the unit. Now since it was hard to see i dont know which wires go to the new pump. there are 2 connections (a brown wire) and a connection with (2 black wires). im not sure which connection these go. can anyone tell me from looking under there LG combo if the brown wire is nearest to the outside paneling of the washer or if its the 2 black wires that are nearest to the outside of the unit if u are looking at the washer from behind on the bottom?

You replace the whole drain pump. Pretty easy to do from the opening in the bottom by resting the unit on its back. (Make sure you drain the unit completely) You should be able to get the drain pump (pt #4681EA2001D) from http://www.encompassparts.com/lgconsumer/ for less than $50 + s&h.

When I check your model number, the lifter comes up as part # MFE38265101
Changing one,...... oh, you really got to want to. On a difficulty scale of 1 - 10 for repairs on this washer / dryer combo, I would rate it about a 10. Basically, you have to remove the motor, remove the entire outer drum, seperate the halves of the outer drum allowing removal of the inner drum, and eventually removal of the lifter from the back side of the inner drum. If you can do the job in under two hours I think you would set a world record.
