Whenever i press sin, cos, or tan, put in a number, and press enter, a wrong answer always comes up. when i do it another calculator, the correct answer comes up. how can i fix this problem? i know there is a way to do this.
Here are the steps in changing it from radian to degrees
1. turn on your TI-83 plus
2. press the MODE button near the top of your calculator
3.go down to options and move the highlight from radian to degree, press enter and clear

Just change the mode... from "rad" to "deg"

Umm, isnt that where you press MODE and change it from radian to degrees?

I'm not too sure what the actual problem is.
If the problem has nothing to deal with your mode not being in deg then I think it might be your input method.
Maybe you can provide an example?
Such as... sin 90.
So what you said is, you enter...
1)sin
2)number (in this case 90)
3)enter [=]
This will appear to be 90 on your F-502, which is obviously incorrect. For some strange reason, it operates different and you have to enter it in the different order.
Instead, try this:
1)number (in this case 90)
2)sin
This should give you an answer, without having to press enter [=], of 1, which is in fact correct.
On your calculator, check to make sure it is on degrees instead of radian. maybe that's why. hope i helped.
CHECK YOUR MODE TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN DEGREES OR IN RADIANS
To solve this problem locate the mode button on your TI83 calculator , press this and come down to where you see radian. once here use the right arrow to move to degree then press enter and clear.

To put it in Scientific mode, press MODE then use your right arrow to move your cursor one spot to SCI. Press ENTER then press CLEAR.

Most likely you do have the calculator in radians (or if you are working in radians, you have it in degrees). Press the mode button, move cruser down to "radians degrees" highlight degrees. and press "2nd quit". things sould be better!
