After six failed attempts by your machine to lock the door F22 flashes.
Causes & Procedure:
Door lock mechanism is broken or removed from door.
Door switch or door unit failure.
1 Unplug / disconnect washer.
2 Check door switch lock unit.
3 Check wire harness connections to door switch/lock unit & the
Central Control Unit (CCU)
Fault 22
Push the door to make sure it is locked firmly (try some WD40 on the door mechanism on machine, not on door, to ease out any lock jam & try the door open/close with the power off the wall) I'm giving you tips to avoid the so-called techs zooming for your wallet.
Fault 28
The communication between the CCU & the MCU (motor control
unit cannot be sent correctly.
1 Unplug washer / Disconnect power
2 Check wire harness connection to the MCU, the motor & CCU
Check communication of the CCU board within the housing.
Make sure all grounding switches are engaged.
3 Check the drive system for any worn or failed components
4 Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted
upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the
MCU connectors.
5 Verify CCU operation by running the Diagnostic Test or any
cycle after plugging in.
This is for the Whirlpool Kenmore HE2 Plus, but it could be useful
1 Unplug/Disconnect the washer
2 Remove the lower kick panel
3 Reach up along the inside of the front & locate the bottom of the door switch/lock unit.
4 Located on the bottom of the door switch/lock unit is a tear-drop shaped tab.
5 Gently pull the tab down about quarter inch or until a click is heard. Gently open door.
