"Tissot Touch" Touch screen failure

My Tissot Touch screen is no longer working. It started with the failure of the Meteo function and has now progressed to the failure of the Thermo and Altimeter function. With the touch screen activated it fails to respond to any touch command. Any suggestions?

I now seem to be having the same problem, was there any fix? can the watch be fixed or is this a terminal error. I also seem to have the dials miss aligned now, the compass for instance does not appear staight anymore..

  • Larshe Nov 20, 2007

I have had the same problem as described above twice in 15 months (starts with the altimeter showing wrong hight - not able to adjust. Then the other services closes down one by one. The reseller has never encountered theese problems before. Faulty design??

  • atseven Dec 09, 2007

My Tissot Touch went out and I thought it was the battery so I had it changed. I found that water had gotten into it even though it is suppose to water proof to withen 30 meters.

  • francisfire Jan 03, 2008

My clock hands no longer line up in compass mode or point to the correct function when pressed. The clock time is no longer in sinc with the digital clock. I have fitted a new battery but the problems are still there. I have been quoted £140 for a service!!!!

I have had my watch for one year and it is now the second time that the screen is not working.I looks like it is a problem with the watch as I see there is a lot of complaints.I am a big or shall I say I was a great Tissot fan but after buying this crap watch never never again!!!!!!

    I have the same problem...

All touch function gone wacky after 3 months!
Time hands doesn't sync with digital number.
Alarm set on time hands but sets off on digital time, I set it for 8:30am but it set's off at  around 4 pm grrrrrrr..
I am so frustrated that don't even bother with other functions. a ******* LEMON!
What the hell is this about cleaning ****, it's a sport watch and if I can't take shower with it it's a completely F@#$ing useless!
    I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

  • Anonymous Mar 29, 2008

It's simple guys keep the watch away from water and R.T.F.M ( Read the fooking manual ) after you replace the battery you have to resync the watch again. Good luck getting your money back I've had mine for 4 years and sent it back for repair on warranty about 15 times asking for a refund every time the watch just came back repaired with another 12 months warranty on the repair three months later it would go faulty again. it is shite you can't get it wet but you just have to live with it keep it dry and it will be OK. Don't think i will ever buy another Tissot though. Reed my fix it below it really works

  • Anonymous Jun 17, 2008

Had the same problems, the touch systems stuck on stopwatch, getting no service from tissot, they are completly useless, no customer service for a lemon of a whatch, never again tissot, i will be using my consumer power to stop anyone buying your products ever again

I bought my Tissot touch on December 2007. The compass had the first fault during a flight on October 2008. Tissot took one month to repair. On January 2009 I flew again and the compass got faulty again ! I think that there is a project issue and the compass is not complaint with flights.

  • dreamd Feb 01, 2009

The same problem 5 times in 1.5 years more than one month in service every time, nice watch, not reliable at all, I have bought a casio with a 10 year battery at a fraction of the price and every time the tissot goes to service I Have to use it w/o problem. There is a quality problem with this watch unfortunately.

  • Anonymous Feb 02, 2009

Mine is Titanium - WOW. First failure of the T-Touch sensor occured within 2 weeks of purchase. Since then the watch was repaired 8 times (always the same - replaced internal mechansism and crystal), then finally replaced wth a new one by Tissot Canada. Then the new one failed within 45 days of receiving it, same problems, I returned it for repair and 5 days after getting it back the Chrono touch sensor failed again. I am told over again by Tissot that the watch is ok for water, but over an over again the problem is that water has FUBARED it. THe new watch has bever been in sight of any water except a rain shower. Now I am told that it should never even be in the rain.......It's a POS and I got ripped off. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER PURCHASING ONE OF THESE HORRENDOUS TOYS I have spent hundereds of $ on shipping

back to the manufacturuer for absoulutely no joy.

  • Anonymous Feb 02, 2009

same here...pretty dissapointed. I have only had for a couple weeks.

  • Anonymous Jul 27, 2020

My experience exactly. The LCD failed just two months after the warranty expired. None of the LCD characters are readable except at a 45 degree angle. Who reads their watch at 45 degrees???!

Sent it off to Tissot Canada and they claimed the watch was abused. The watch in fact was treated with kid gloves and worn a total of maybe ten minutes. They even tried to say the strap was 'worn.'

What is 'worn" is Tissot. They are unable to make an electro-mechanical watch such as the Casio G-Shock or the fabulous MTM from L.A.

Tissot should stick to conventional "tick tock" watches and stop deceiving people with their trashy "T-Touch Solars."

Worthless watch, worthless company. They also need lessons in ethics and honesty.

It all stems from the watch not actually being waterproof it's more water resistant than waterproof. The little indentations on the back that look like they are for a tool to unscrew it are actually holes i guess for the altimeter and meteo so it can sense pressure. Behind the back just behind the holes is a nylon gauze material and underneath this is a sensor slightly recessed and covered with some kind of waterproof substance. As far as i can see the problems lie here any water sweat or other foreign object than gets into this gauze will eventually will clog this gauze material which at first will affect the altimeter then the meteo. When the gauze has been clogged up severely i gets very dirty indeed which means when it gets wet it takes an age to dry out so if you wear it in the shower like i used to it will never dry out this causes the watch to malfunction quite severely. You can actually fix this problem yourself just get a very small flat screwdriver and lever the back off don't worry it's only a push fit and comes of easily you will see straight away a dirty damp smelly clogged up round piece of nylon gauze clean this up with a bit of WARM not boiling soapy water being careful not to disturb the pressure sensor and it's waterproof goo inside then dry it all and put it together
Hope this helps

I got my Touch T 3 years ago, I only wear it 6 months a year (work in Africa and don't take it with me) and after 1 year of wear the strap was falling to pieces.
Anyway so I got several quotes to fix the rubber strap and it was £40, which i thought was expensive.
So I got a new strap off ebay from a guy in Taiwan, not sure it's original but fits ok and quality is fine for £20
But while i waited for the strap the watch stopped completely.
I have to say that I never wear it in the shower or wash my hands wearing it. Other than changing the hour I have never adjusted the seconds or minutes, it really is that accurate!
Anyway I popped the back off, it was very dirty in the back like others have said, cleaned it. Took the battery out, measured the voltage at 2.94v (new one was 3.22v) and popped the same old battery back in and it's working fine (once calibrated the fingers)
I use the altimeter function and it's very accurate so long as you update it. Also the compass is good so long as it's away from electronics. Overall impressed other than shitty (and expensive) strap

My T-Touch had the same problem as you. Mine started from centre sensor. I tried to go to Swatch Customer Care (Singapore) to ask for battery change. The technician refuse to change the battery for me, but insist they can only perform a service for my watch for 178 Singapore Dollar. I took back my watch as I believe the upkeep for T-Touch is way too high. and the touch screen sensors are not very reliable. I choose not repair the watch and use it untill the battery is flat.

I have a Tissot Toch silver face, brought when i was on Hajj in Saudia Arabia Paid £180 ish, saw it for sale yesterday in shop for £500, Anyway It stop working problem with most functions i.e compass, altermeter, just gets stuck on the alarm function, would only move from time to stop watch funtion, will move to alarm funtion but return back to stop watch, got a little pissed with it and place it on the fire place (log burning type) any fire place will do , my dad filled it up got very hot, i was away for abot 20-30 mins returned to find watch , the screen was completely black , was gutted as i thought it burned the inside, but after a short while the numbers came back, every funtion started to work, i did before this very risky move take it to the shop changed the battery made no difference, it should be water resistence 30m, i keep it on when i make Wudu (washing before prayer) most of the time i had a feeling it was moisture inside that caused it to not fuction properly, so dryed it out, i would recomend that you USE A HAIR DRYER for at least 15 mins close range, pref heat from the side that should sort it out, hope that helps, tissot are good watches a not many people have them making them rare ish watches , plus all those party tricks, would buy the titanium one next time much lighter

I am currently in dispute with TISSOT and the retailer Ernest Jones regarding my T Touch Expert titanium. After 3 months and having only worn the watch a dozen or so times, the LCD screen began to bleed in one corner. It was returned and repaired. 9 months later, the same thing occurred and I had not worn the watch at all (I have plenty of other watches), It was returned for repair and TISSOT say that they are unable to give me a date for when it can be repaired if it can be repaired at all. Ernest Jones offered me a replacement! I told them why would I want a replacement of a watch that simply doesnt work - and besides my faith in the brand is rock bottom. I have written to their corporate office and await a reply. Unacceptable customer service. I am pushing for a refund. I will never buy a TISSOT watch again. After having been acquired by Swatch they are out to make money and have distanced themselves from a caring customer service philosophy in favour of sales volumes.

And i payed $800 bucks for it and you know the Kmart watch is still working and I wear it every day!!! So much for quality

My t touch expert did the same; I read in other blogs that this could happen due to humidity. I heat up my watch with my wife's blower for about 5 minutes on high. After 5 min I couldn't even touch it! The screen went blank. After a few minutes when it cooled down the screen came back up and to my amazement all the function came back. So far... it works well.

Have you tried to change the battery?

  • chrismorl195 Jun 07, 2011

With the costs of the regular recommended services, a wise decision would be to pay more initially for a good quality time piece . Should be called a Dont Touch!
Very poor customer care, head in the sand mentality to the watches obvious faults
A major dissapointment, would never ever recommend one to anyone

I've had my T-touch for 7 years now and apart from 2 battery changes it's never missed a beat. I wear it when snorkeling on holidays and this has had no adverse effect on it. I have synced the hands once as they were miss aligned, just followed the steps in the manual and worked a treat.

T touch Meteo out by 20 Milibars

Certain functions need to be calibrated. The altimeter and the Meteo are tied together. When a customer gets the watch, they should calibrate to either the Meteo or Altimeter. The easiest way to find out the altitude of the nearest airport (you can usually get this on line) and then go to the airport and adjust the
watch. This will also calibrate the Meteo.

To calibrate the Altimeter:
1. Activate Crystal
2. Press Altimeter
3. Press and hold top + button until the watch beeps and display flashes.
4. Use + and – buttons to adjust altitude
5. Press center of dial to lock in.

Tissot T-Touch : Faulty reading on Thermo, no reading on Altimeter and meteo not working either

If it's under warranty by all means pursue a fix. You might have to send it to a warranty center instead of working with your local dealer.

"Water proof" and "water resistant" are very different. About 20 years ago all watch companies stopped promising waterproof and started using the term water resistant. It gives them wiggle room in the guarantee, unfortunately. I believe T-Touch is supposed to be water resistant to only a few meters.

Meteo

1. How do you know the meteo is wrong? Are you comparing against a known good measurement device?

2. The altimeter requires adjustment every few days or whenever there's a weather change. Select the altimeter, hold the upper or lower button until you have the correct altimeter reading for where you are and it will hold for a few days.

For example, I know my home is at 100m elevation (I checked on a topo map) so I reset it to 100m when I leave the house in the morning. It varies (in my case) by over 100m in either direction, depending on the weather.

The 'meteo' function doesn't work when I press the watch face.

This seems to ba a common problem. On mine both the Meteo and Altimeter stoped working. Apparently these watches have a fault with the water proofing and should not be worn in water!
