Mitsubishi WD-52725 DLP flickering white lines

Hi - I have seen all the posts on the flashing green light and replacing swollen capacitors. I have the same TV but a different problem - I have horizontal white lines that flicker/flash across the screen on at least my HDMI and component inputs (don't use any of the others). They seem to hit rows of pixels and are usually 4 - 8 inches long. The pixels flash white for probably a half second and then display the signal again. It happens all over the screen, not limited to a particualr area. It has gradually gotten worse over the past few weeks. Any ideas?

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.

For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:

12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected

SOURCE: WD-62525 horizontal lines in picture when using component inputs

code 12 means the set isnt experiencing any shutdown symptons. I would check for more capacitors in the same circuit where you found the other often they show no visible sign of deterioration. If you need a service manual to figure out which capacitors are in that same circuit you can get the manbual for your set for 10.99 at the following link. They will even email it to you if you go back to the site and let them know you want it emailed. heres the link hope it helps.

SOURCE: mitsubishi wd-52628 flashing green timer light

If the power/timer led is the one blinking constantly
the most likely problem is two 3300 mfd caps and 1 to 8 1000mfd caps on the power board.
could be the DM board or caps on it as well.

SOURCE: Blue Flickering Screen - Which Repair Kit?

2 swollen capacitors on the power supply (first board you can see on the chassis when you start to dissassemble) big caps... 3300 uf... 16v i think. these caps can also induce a 3.4 code (lamp error) and all around **** picture. fmt failures can range from black and white checkerboard pattern on the screen to wavy lines over the picture and also the blinking green light. DM failures I've seen include the blinking green light , wavy lines, and weird digital failures like horizontal bars green blocks or the picture being cut in odd places.

also when you hear that the failure is caused by the capacitors (blinking green light mainly) the culprit is not only the bulged caps. This is why you can change all the caps on the boards and still not have a working tv. its about 80 surface mount caps across both the fmt and dm. techs, look at your replacement boards and notice the darker print on the 47uf caps. good luck trying to change them it takes me about 3 hours to do both boards and about 45 dollars worh of caps.

Did your replace lamp come on the screen or did you lose picture? Just because the LED indicator suggest replace lamp it doesn't mean it needs it. If your pix was dull or loss of brightness then replace it, if not then just reset your lamp timer, check your owners manual for instructions.

Blue Flickering Screen - Which Repair Kit?

yes they provide a free service manual with their kits. the symptom of the blue screen could either be the signal or the FMT as they can both cause those symptoms, My professional guess would be the signal board as the FMT will cause distortion lines across the screen with no picture.

WD-52725 Timer light is blinking and will not stop.

This part will cost you about 650 to 800 bucks my friend. if you have any soldering skills, and can follow directions, I posted a DM board fix. it may just be four small capacitors. Now this set that was used in the fix is not exactly like all the other Mitsubishi TV sets that still have a DM board, but if you can locate the DM board, follow the rest of the repair. if you do not know how to solder, do not take a chance, as this part is way too expensive to be experimenting around with. Get the Capcitors(there is a link there too for the capacitors)and take the DM board to a service shop, as this should not cost you a lot to have a pro do this for you. The DM board fix is located here: http://www.fixya.com/howto/h154057-mitsubishi_dm_board_repair Good luck
