my door does not close properly

  • jawsie Feb 15, 2009

I recently removed and replaced my neff oven door after cleaning. About 2 days later it came off whilst cooking, but the hinges appear to have the locking arm on and so I can't get them back into the oven. I have tried pushing hinge back but it just won't budge. What can I do?

You need to lock the hinges to get the door back.
it needs some strength
lay door flat on floor
force hinge against the spring until right back and put the locking arm over. i use my feet for this!

Taking apart a NEFF oven door

The inner door glass is held on by two clips at the bottom (hinge side) and two slides near the handle side. Remove the door from the oven and lie it the worktop flat with the hinges uppermost. Near the hinges you will see the glass is angles leaving a triangle of metal frame either side near the hinges.Rest the outside of your hand on the metal for purchase and then pull on the glass along the bottom edge (reasonable tug required) this will disengage the bottom clips and then slide the glass down about an inch to remove completely.

I have had both door hinges replaced on the main oven of my Neff but the door still does not close properly. What is the next step?

I would have gone straight through Neff. If it can't be fixed, your'e supposed to get a new oven out of the deal.

How do I sepate the inside from the outside of a neff oven Bl641 door

Remove the oven door by flipping the hinge catches into their alternative position and lift the door out of the hinge slots (note it is somewhat heavy). Lie the door, outside face down and press down on the glass with both hands until it slides off the mounting pins at the base of the door body. Replacement is an exact reversal.

Heat escaping, uneven baking, longer cooking times

Either the seals need to be replaced, or you may have weak oven door hinges, and the door is not closing properly.
Only solution would be to replace both hinges if this is the case.

NEFF oven U1461 - The bottom oven door hinges do not have enough strength to hold the door fully closed. Can these be adjusted and is this something I could do myself?

If the door is a drop down door, then no adjustment is possible, the only solution is to replace both door hinges.

Door does not close tightly ? problem with bottom hinges

Yep, sounds like the hinges/springs have been overloaded.
Dont know if it's a Neff problem in particular, but I had a Neff oven with exactly the same problem - it was already installed when I bought my house.
Spoke to Neff who advised this ocours if heavy things like a roasting tray with a heavy bird / joint in it is rested on the door whilst it's open.
Only cure is new spring/hinge units which are not cheap !
