Water pooling at base of delta waterfall faucet spout

I'm guessing I need new rings? This faucet is about 10 years old. I'm getting a leak underneath the sink coming under the pooling water.

Thanks for your help

I have the same problem. The part that is needed is found with a simple Google search for "Delta Waterfall RP22934 O-Rings"

Simply Slide the collar up at the base of the spout where it swivels.

Gently open the now exposed split plastic retainer so that the tabs near the bottom are pulled from their holes.

Lift the spout off the base to expose the o-rings.

Replace with the new o-rings and apply o-ring grease.

Re-assemble and enjoy a dry sink area.

Thostetter,

Yes, it sounds like new rings. They are readily available at the supply center/big box stores. Also buy a little tube of O-ring lube for Plumbing. It is a little spendy but it will more than double the life of the rings. Generally this job can be done with an allen wrench bundle, 10" crescent wrench and the new parts. Turn the water off before you start!!

Good Luck, Phil

Hard to turn spout side to side

Remove the spout and apply a thin coating of plumber's waterproof silicone lubricant to the O-rings on the spouts mounting post. If the spout is still difficult to turn, replace the O-rings. Here is the link to the delta waterfall parts breakdown.

How do i remove the spout to replace o rings on 174 spout?

1. you can pull the spout while turining it. If this still does not work, then spray wd40 at the base and try again. Last resort, deep the spout and base unit in 50/50 solution of white vinegar for a day and then try to take it apart.

The base and spout are snugged fit so you will need to apply some pressure to move it.

My Delta Model 174 sputters air when turned on and leaks from the base of the spout. What causes this?

Air is getting into your water line, though I can't imagine how since it's a closed system. The only time this might occur is if the water main was shut off and all the water was drained from the lines. This is only necessary if your doing some plumbing work.

Any tricks to lifting the spout off the base? I slid the collar up and removed the plastic retainer, but don't seem to be able to life the spout.

Run the hot water for a few minutes this will expand the spout and help loosen the seals. You may have to pull hard but it will come off. Use alittle silicone grease on the o-ring when reinstalling.

I have a Delta Waterfall 172 SSWF faucet in my kitchen. I need to replace the water spout - I have the replacement spout. It appears there is a plastic retainer ring that holds the spout in place but I'm...

Normally you just turn that ring, counter clockwise. If too hard to turn, I usually put a rag over it, to avoid scratching, and use a pair of channel lock pliers, and squeeze just hard enough not to slip.

The main faucet is leaking-when I use the sep. handle the faucet still leaks. Is a problem with a seal in the faucet or could it be a problem with the handle to shut it off?

if it leaking around the base of the spout...it would be spout o-rings....if it is dripping from the aerator then it is the seat and springs in the handle.

Leakes around spout

You remove the handle after turning the water off the to faucet. Remove the retaining nut which is apart of the trim. The ball assymbly will pull right out and you will find the two little washers and springs below the ball. You can buy a rebuild kit with the new ball if you like but it is not necessary. When you do replace the washers, it might be necessary to tighen the tension ring that is on the retaining nut. Tighten it unit it doesn't leak around the ball stem.
