Had ice maker for about a year, has worked great. Then after sitting for serval months, it is not freezing ice properly. The cubes are small and very loosy formed. It takes forever to drop the ice.
When was the last time you cleaned it by running ice machine cleaner through it. After a period of time algea, or slime will form on the chill plate where the ice is made. Sometimes its invisible to the eye, but it doesn't mean its not there. When this happens the machine will freezse the water, and when the ice tries to slide forward to the cutting grid, it catches on the chill plate. There are no sensors in the machine to tell it that this is happening and so the machine moves forward and starts running more water across the plate, which in turn runs across the ice caught on the chill plate melting it and using it as a ramp to fall into the bin melting the ice there as well. So, try cleaning it before taking any further steps, then if the problem persist feel free to get in touch.

I have an Emerson portable and cycles but no ice. What kind of cleaner do I run through it and how do I remove all of it afterwards? It could be dirty inside as we live in a mobile home and the insulation under blew off in Wilma but didn't know it at the time. So it gets more dust in here. Can't see it in air but it is in here as dusting sure picks it up. So could be dirt in there. How do I clean it out?
