Onions are particularly bad for cats as they break down the cat's red blood cells, the same goes with garlic and chives. Milk is also not good for cat's especially adult cats as their digestive system cannot cope with dairy products.

It is my understanding that cats appetites are controlled wholly by their sense of smell. It is also my understanding that adding a little garlic powder or crushed garlic to raw animal products, will encourage a sick or elderly cat to eat. (the smell is alluring). Also, milk has had a bad rap when it comes to cats, the truth is, milk may upset their tummys a little, due to the lactose sugars. However cream (which sits on top of the milk) is an awesome source of sustenance for any cat. And they just love it!
You should treat your dog as a positive reinforcement however the
treat shouldn't affect meals, and shouldn't constitute more than 10 percent of
your dog nutrition. Regular treating can cause weight gain, malnutrition and
picky eating.
