We have a Whirlpool LSR8433KQ clothes washer. It has been having an intermittent problem. Sometimes the drum will not spin after the rinse cycle. You can hear the motor (and gear box, I think) turning but the drum does not. If I rotate the drum by hand alittle, sometimes I hear a "click" and the drum will then rotate.
Sound like a clutch problem? What parts should I order?
may be a foreign object trapped in between the inner and outer tub. Major Disassembly required to split the outer tub. May also be the rear bearing in which case back half will have to be replaced.

Kenmore / Whirlpool Washer Not Spinning 1. Bill Newberry ... Washer will not spin the clothes dry ... Now ..
If it is under warranty, call Whirlpool at 1-866-698-2538. If it is out of warranty, try running the washer with no clothes in it in spin cycle. If it runs fine empty, it may be that when you had clothes in it they were not balanced evenly in the tub. If it runs off balance when empty, then a spring may have broken or come off. Contact an appliance repairman.
with a lot of the machines now they wont go into spin mode if the drum is not balanced properly, like say you had a load of towels in their, well it wont spin as its to unstable to spin without wobbling around so it simply stops at the spin cycle and does nothing, you can try this by turning it on with no clothes in and see if it will go into the spin cycle with no clothes in, if it does then chances are its not weighing the clothes properly and would end up costing a fortune to put right as it sounds like you spent a lot of money on parts all ready, so give i a try with no clothes in and see if it will spin, have you tried turning the drum by hand when its switched off to check for any grinding noises or jerking when you try to turn it by hand, im not sure how the balance sensor works or even where it is as its a new feature in the last few years but people are now starting to have problems with this feature and it stops the machine from spinning leaving the clothes soaking yet, so give it a try empty and see what happens
Sounds as if the drive hub which the tub is attached to maybe free spinning. Not an expensive part but does require a special tool called a spanner wrench to remove and replace.
Yes I happens to work a lot with this type of machines. Normally when the spin is too slow the problem rises form a week voltage, motor winding too week for the velocity. I means that the winding in the motor might have gotten burn and weakened the winding to the point where when the motor ask for more voltage to spins the housing the winding heat up. That is why you smell as something burning. The system in this type of machines is not complex but tedious. If everything else work in the machine then it is the motor.
Ok so your having problems with the washer spin problem. Well there mightbe a sound that it is making like a jumpoing sound. Well when you here that open it and you might notice that all the clothes are on one side. That means that you put too much clothes in the washer, and it can't handle it. So open it and take out some clothes and restart it. I hope i helped you problem's. Thank you for taking your time to read my article.
