Dvd play fine at beginning, but then after a while will only play background music with NO speaking. dvd still plays fine on laptop. Does not happen with all dvds, ie series, but on all films. Any ideas? Linda

When u can't hear any "speaking" try the changing the audio setting of the player.
If no change I'll need to see the remote, a pic will do

When I said a pic i hould have been more clear, what I wanted was to see the buttons on it, specifically for audio switching.

Nevertherless u said u tried switching the audio but to no veil. Right!

Tell u what. Put a dvd that gives u audio problem, and check for the audio output mode in the menu of the player, like, DTS, Dolby or PCM. Better get an original DVD with all the audio features on. So tht U can identify what mode is giving the problem. U could try switching the audio out put to DTS, Dolby or 2 channel stereo mode.

    Try this method.

I have a goodmans dvd player and a samsung flat screen tv.when i try to play a dvd the picture is fine but no sound.

What type of cable are you using to connect the TV & DVD together?

You may also need to connect the 2 RCA(Phono) plugs for Left & Right Channel sound if you have used an S-VHS cable for the video link-up.

Will not play CD's

Basically, it took a "reboot" (of a sorts). I unplugged the unit and let it sit long enough to wipe out "stored" settings. When I plugged it back in, it seemed to work fine. Who knows...

Goodmans Tv wont show dvds

Usually with DVD players, picture & no sound, or sound & no picture is caused by the scart lead not being plugged in properly.

Sound pins are at one end of the connector and audio pins at the other.

If you are using scart make sure that the plugs at both ends are pushed in all the way. The plastic part of the plug should just touch the socket.

If you are using S-Video (Round connector with 4 pins) you also need to connect a twin phono-phono (Red & Black or White) lead to carry the audio, as S-Video only carries video.

SOUND AND PLAY SPEED

Call 1-800-605-8610 to see about getting a replacement - many of these work fine, but it is a cheap ----- player - available for as low as $25 in some locations. all you can do is reset the player by unplugging/replugging while holding the prev/rew button. If that fails, this puppy is toast.

maybe,
the DVD disc you recorded is not compatible,
if you manually did this, you should have used Nero. or other burning softwares.
