Printer is not recognizing the new custom paper size

I created a custom paper size for a project in Print Shop 23 but the custom paper I created is not in the options for printing paper selection under my printer / HP PSC 1310 series

  • bstippi Nov 17, 2008

I created a custom paper size for card stock pre-cut paper, in the Print Shop 23. It was added to my choice of paper options in print shop but, my printer does not have the same or similar paper source options to print the project on my HP PSC 1310 printer. How can I print this project on my 5x7 card stock.

You also have to create a form the same size in "server properties".

Click on "printers and faxes"
Click on "file" top left of screen, choose "server properties"
Click on "create new form"
type in width and height of paper

(my HP printer will not recognize any paper less than 5' in height and less than 3" in width)

If your create a form less than 5" in height ' and/or less than 3" in width - chances are that's why your printer won't recognize new form. Height HAS to be at least 5" and width HAS to be at least 3"

type in name of new form
save form and close

It should now be in your printer paper options.

I should also say that you really have to create two forms. One using print shop pro using custom paper wizard and the other in the server properties - both being the same size. This ought to solve your problem

Hp officejet 7000 won't print 6.5 x 10 paper size

Officejet 8620 printed about 400 for me in 16 months then stopped. A few weeks prior to the error msg. that the paper in the tray did not match my document settings another message said it did not recognize any paper in tray including letter size despite there being about 100 sheets. I c alled HP two different days, tried documents on a brand new computer, created a new document. Took two hours total and $20 to be told the printer did not support this paper size. I called them prior to purchase and told them my needs and was told it would accommodate the size. My local techie and I both think the sensors have gone bad in under 2 years as I had been able to print my cards with no issue about 400 times. I called Epson three different times and each tech support person says Epsons can accommodate this.

Please teach me how to use my HPF4185 to print envelopes. Thanks.

Hi

Use the product software, also known as the printer driver, to change the print settings for your envelope size and type. Then, use the Envelopes and Labels tool in Microsoft Word to select your envelope size.

Step one: Adjust the print settings

-In Microsoft Word, click File , and then click Print .
-Make sure that your product is in the Name drop-down list box, and then click Properties .
-Click the Features tab, or the Paper/Quality tab.
-Select an envelope size from the Size drop-down list.
-If the required paper size is not in the drop-down list, follow these steps to create a custom paper size.
-Select Custom from the drop-down list.
-In the Custom Paper Size dialog box, type a name for the new custom size.
-In the Width and Height boxes, type the dimensions.
-Select the unit of measurement, and then click Save .
-Click OK to close the Custom Paper Size dialog box, and then click OK again to close the Properties dialog box.
NOTE: You must exit the Properties dialog box to apply your changes.
Open the Properties dialog box again, and select the new custom size from the Size drop-down list.
-Select the paper type.
-In the Paper Type or Type is drop down list, click More .
-Click the desired paper type, and then click OK .
-Select the paper source from the Paper Source drop-down list.
-Change any other settings, and then click OK to close the Properties dialog box.

Step two: Set the correct envelope size

-Set the correct envelope size in the Envelopes and Labels dialog box before printing envelopes.
-In Microsoft Word, click Tools , click Letters and Mailings , and then click Envelopes and Labels .
-In the Envelopes and Labels dialog box, click the Envelopes tab.
-Click Options .
-From the Envelope size drop-down list, select the required paper size. If you created a custom paper size, select the new custom paper size from the drop-down list.
-Click OK , and then click Close to close the Envelopes and Labels dialog box.
-Click File , and then click Print to print the envelope.
NOTE: When you finish printing the envelopes, return the paper size and the paper type settings to the defaults.

Mismatch paper size error

Click on Print, then Properties, then features.
About half way down there is a drop down box under sizing options.
Click on custom
Create a name, and put your width and height in.
Click Save and then OK
Completely X out of the print options.
Then Click
File, print
on the bottom of that screen there should be a scale to paper size drop down box. Scroll to the bottom and your saved name and dimensions should be there.

You will have to setup each individual sized template ones and then just scale to fit each time. Hope this helps

I have a Stylus photo printer R1900

There are two different ways to create a custom page size within the Epson printer driver on Windows 2000 or XP. The method you need to use will vary depending on what type of driver is installed.
CREATING A CUSTOM PAPER SIZE IN SERVER PROPERTIES
This method will create a new page size accessible by all printer drivers installed in Windows.
1. Open the PRINTERS (2000) or PRINTERS and FAXES (XP) window.
2. Click on FILE, then select SERVER PROPERTIES.
3. On the FORMS tab, place a check beside CREATE A NEW FORM.
4. Input a new name for the paper size. Enter the desired height and width, following the existing format (#.##in).
5. Click SAVE or SAVE FORM to add the new form size to the list, then close SERVER PROPERTIES.
6. Right click on the printer name and left click PRINTING PREFERENCES.
7. Look for PAPER SIZE. (Depending on the driver in use, this will be found on the MAIN tab, the PAPER tab, or under the ADVANCED button). Select your custom paper size from the list.
8. Click APPLY to save this setting, or OK in Windows XP.
NOTE: If your new custom size is not available on the list of preset paper sizes, it indicates that the new size is either too large or too small for the driver in use.
CREATING A CUSTOM PAPER SIZE WITHIN THE EPSON DRIVER
This method will create a custom size within the Epson printer driver only.
1. Open the PRINTERS (2000) or PRINTERS AND FAXES (XP) window.
2. Right click your Epson printer name and left click PRINTING PREFERENCES.
3. On the MAIN or PAPER tab, select USER DEFINED from the PAPER SIZE drop down box.
4. Enter the new custom size and give it a name. Click SAVE to save the new size and OK to return to MAIN.
5. Click APPLY to save the changes (OK in Windows XP).
NOTE: this method is not available when using printer drivers resident within Windows itself. If your printer driver name ends in "ESC/P2" you will need to use the first method to add the new size in SERVER PROPERTIES.
