Krups type 897 Nespresso (uses prepackaged coffee inserts) machine won't pump water through the coffee. Push the appropriate button and you get a brief vibration like the pump is starting and then it stops and nothing comes out. It's not newly purchased, but it's never been used. I've been all through troubleshooting in the manual and nothing has worked.

I swaped the hose around.
The o-ring at the element end is bigger and can be held in properly by the clip at the pump end. The bracket/clamp at the element end holds in the smaller o-ring sufficiently.

if the machine is old it could be leaking due to lime/calcium build up limeaway and clr should fix the problem, if not you probably have a cracked hose inside
SOURCE: I have a Krups type 964 espresso maker - I can't get a good seal
Try removing the screw that holds the metal filter in place, and remove the filter plate. Then clean the accumulated coffee dust inside. Once clean, reassemble and all should work fine. I have to do this every 6 months or so once the machine got to be about 12 years old.
