Is it a legit HP ink cartridge? I have had a few knockoffs fail to be recognized in my printer. Seems like the printer companies are getting wise to the knock off brands

SOURCE: printer will not recognize new blk ink cartridge.

1) Please do not use RE-FILLED cartridges as they will clog the heads terribly.
2) Turn off printer, Remove all cartridges, Gently move the printer head to the RIGHT with short thrusts. It is not necessary to move it completely to the right hand home position just simply away from the obvious jam.
3) With a flashlight and tweezers try to locate paper jam in the print head track. Best to also blow out paper chafe with a weak air bulb. WARNING: Do not let your male friend or relative use extremely strong air pump for tires or air blower at corner gasoline station. (Do not purchase the cheapest paper the future)
4) Unplug the printer to allow it to completely re-initialize the internal electronics..... about 10 minutes should be fine.
5) Replace all cartridges.
6) Power up printer, then re-boot your computer with the activated printer connected, then print a test page. Everything should be fine.

SOURCE: printer will not recognize new blk ink cartridge.

I think either the printer's scanner(or film as some call it) and/or the carriage is faulty. The signal cable that connects the carriage to the logic board could also be a suspect. Try replacing these items one after another and the culprit will be isolated. Good luck.

  1. Take the ink cartridges out of the printer.

  1. Turn off the printer and wait a few minutes.

  1. Turn the printer back on and insert the cartridges, and make sure that cartridges are properly inserted in place.

  1. If problem still persists, clean the ink cartridges.

Are you using OEM, compatible or refilled ink cartridges? Refilled ink cartridges have a high defective rate, and they may also damage your printer, so it is best to use high-quality print cartridges. OEM and certain brands of compatible print cartridges (such as MSE brand: http://www.dependablesupplies.com/search.php?search_query=MSE&submit_search=Search) are the best choices.

Ink cartridge not properly installed

I have gone through all the forums but none of them worked...

The correct solution for the problem is the canon printer needs to have both the color and black catridges present in the printer...
So even if you purchased new black catridge only you need to have the old color catridge to be placed in the place of color catridge....

So it will detect the catridges and if any of the one is empty it asks to select black at the time of printing and simply select it you will get a black print...

So make sure both the catridges either empty or full need to be placed to detect the catridges....

I hope it will be helpful.....

My HP F380 all in one does not print at all even tho I just installed another (3rd) new black printer cartridge. Color cartridge is empty.

Stupid printers refuses B/W print jobs when color cartridge is empty. Sorry, the answer is: install full color catridge.

My HP Deskjet F2480 is all set up but won't print. I don't have any ink in the colour cartridge. Could this be the problem?

If there's no ink in the color cartridge and the printer detects it and prompts you to replace the cartridge, you'll never be able to print unless you replace it. Sometimes only with the Color cartridge, we can make print outs, while the black cartridge is still installed (but the printer shouldn't detect it, if it does detect, there's no way to do this either) but only with black cartridge filled and no color is not possible.

It should work fine after it's replaced, if the problem persists, let me know.

Good luck.

How can I print a color picture without using a black catridge?

Black ink is an essential part of the printing process. The black color is only made by the black cartridge, the color cartridge does make "black".
One or more optional photo cartridges may be available, depending on your printer model.
  • Use the photo cartridge with a tri-color cartridge for best-quality color photos and graphics, and sepia or antique photos.
  • Choose a gray photo cartridge to print black and white photos with truer grays and richer blacks.

Black cartridge problem

Try the steps mentioned in the link bellow:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01091133&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1141647

If it still does the same then the printer is not detecting the ink catridge, the printer might have to be replaced.

Good Luck
