Kenmore 80 series makes noise in sping cycle

I have a Kenmore 80 series model 110.16882502 washer that suddenly started making a clunking noise in the spin cycle - sometimes. It does not seem to do it at a very fast spin or with a heavy load like towels. It is a rhythmic clunk, almost like something is loose and hitting the side. We took off the case, but couldn't see anything loose. Ideas? Thanks!

I have the same problem - I talked to my repair man over the phone and after he had me tests some things, he said it's the transmission!! ugh.

Its the transmission. Try to find a used appliance store in your town. Most save used parts and you should be able to pick up a used tranny for around 100 bucks.

We have a Kenmore 80 series top load washer model 110.28803890. When the timer moves to spin it makes a load clicking noise and does nothing.

Timers are not supposed to make loud clicks. If it is, it's going bad. The same problem happened with my parent's Estate washer. It its on it's third timer!

Won't spin, makes clunking noise, drains fine

If it agitates fine , with normal noise , drains with lid closed , then the problem is probably the transmission .
