Shortly after turning on this TV the unit, out of the blue, turns off. 2 minutes, to 30 after turning on. Powers back up fine. The TV does this once each time of use. Cleaned dust off in the back for air vents.
Try blowing out the set and especially the three fans and the area around them---seen a number of these where a dirty fan will slow down just a little and even stop set from coming on at all or shutting down sometimes.
We usually roll them outside and with a aircompressor clean the set out, it usually looks like a dust storm.
I have had more than a few brought in that would not power up and as soon as cleaned outside, came up and worked.
The actual air intakes are on the front of the set and dust gets sucked into the unit.
This is what mine was doing changed the lamp and it still did it. Cleaned the fans by the lamp and it still did it. I removed the lower back panel blew out all the dust, there was a lot of it. mine is four years old. Its took care of my problem. looks like new.My be it will help you.But make you uplug it to do this

You have a chip that is overheating due to heatsink coumpound being dried up. You need to find that chip and heatsink and apply new compound to both parts.

The ribbon connector which goes from the FMT to the DM is disconnected or not seated properly thats the only thing that will cause the 4 4 error other than a broken ribbon socket

what if the pic doesnt stay on long enough to run the test? Mine doesn't stay on more then 15 seconds before it powers off. This happens everytime now.
HELP and THANKS
SOURCE: TV screen goes blank but power stays on
Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.
SOURCE: unit turns on for a few seconds then turns off
Usually in these sets the 2-2 error code is a shorted convergence IC----they are protected in most models (don't know your exact model number) by two pico fuses(they do not look like glass fuses and are usually in the power supply--little green parts that look like small resistor--amperage is marked on them and usually they are 5 amp) the fuses can be checked like any other type of fuse---if one or both of these are open the set will detect no voltage to the convergence chips and shut the set down. If you locate the convergence chips look for any discolored or burnt resistors around them----in most models they are light blue in color and marked 3.9 ohms---if any are white in the middle they are gone---
I do this here for free so if this helps you give me a vote here.

Usually answered in minutes!
SD Tech was right on. I missed an intake air vent on the right side of the set. Cleaned it out, and the problem of turning off shortly after turning the set on went away!! Thanks!!
we replaced the lamp in our WD65838 and it has a great picture for about 5 min and then the screen starts flckering. What could this be? My husband cleaned everything out.
Mine turns off in a couple of minutes and the lamp light stays on Red. What is it?
