its not hooked up right your cable box or tv manual should show you how, cable audio out, tv audio in left and right

It sounds that the Y buffer or Z sustain board has the fault. Check this link. The site has pictures of faulty plasma screens, along with faulty boards. There is no repair to any of these boards, only can replace it with same type number. Try to find out the faulty board to your TV.

Do a search by entering the brand name to your device by its search box at top right of the display window, because, posts are not arranged in alphabetical order, but by brand name first.

View it in 'Flip card' option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. It will make search easy. Assuming the power supply is exact replacement and you did not have this before--check the speakers to make sure not turned off.

If using a cable or sat box make sure sound not way down or off both with the set and the box.

Last but not least if sound is there with a DVD---something somewhere is set to wrong position.

If you already checked the connections then your backlight just went out on it

Check all inputs. Are they all dead. Try other signal source. Does antenna input work when connected to known good source?Vide input label being displayed indicates most of the tv is working. You need to determine if you have lost signal in the video input.

Need to have the power supply checked by a qualified technician.
