Sony shows a split screen when DVD plays

Have a Sony TV, Samsung DVD, and Panasonic VCR. Television cable (coax) runs into the VCR then the TV. The DVD player I used the (Yellow) video cable with the two (Red & White) audio cables and plug into Video 1 on the TV (backside). I changed DVD players and the new one doesn't work. When I switch the DVD player, the screen is split and fuzzy. I tried using an S-video cable from the DVD to the TV - same result. Even switched to the Video 2 input on the TV as well. Turned VCR on and off in case of interferrence. Ideas?

If the new player you hooked up is causing the spit screen then you have to go into the set up menu in the DVD player and take it out of prograssive scan.. Its in the wrong fornmat for your TV set. good Luck PS please dont forget to rate this.

If Techmans's solution does not completely cure the problem, it nay be necessary to buffer the AV or Scart lead as I have done. I am using a spare Toshiba VCR which has two scart input/outputs. The scart lead from the DVD (Yukai) goes to the Toshiba VCR and a second scart from the VCR goes to my digital satelite reciever. Without this `buffer' I get a very fuzzy picture. I believe it is caused by instability. The VCR must be out of standby and set to scart input. The coax aerial lead is connected in the usual loop through way to the DVD, Panasonic VCR, and TV. When I get the time I will try a large ferrite ring round the scart lead instead of the buffer.

SOURCE: Suddenly, "No Signal" display when cable box/VCR Connected to UHF/VHF Jack

How long have you owned the tv? You have two options though your best bet is to locate your nearest authorized service center to have the tv repaired.

SOURCE: Sound pops and cracks on coax only.

While there are other possibilities, this is a problem which is commonly caused by bad solder connections that form in the tuner. When you're using the video sources the tuner is out of the picture (sorry, I couldn't resist a pun) so you don't see any problem. It's relatively easy to fix, but it means removing the tuner from the board inside, opening the tuner and resoldering the bad connections. This is a nice TV, so it would be worth getting an estimate for the repair. Because of the time involved, many technicians would rather simply pull the tuner and put in a replacement. See if you can find one who will repair the tuner instead. I always did when I was on the road, and it didn't really take that long. It saves the cost of an expensive part.

Trying to connect a new Samsung Bd-C5500 to my old Sony tv. Can't even get the set-up screen to come up on the TV. All we have is a TV, a Cable box and this new Samsung. We bought it because it is...

That depends on the connections your Sony TV has. If it has only the coaxial connector (the cable looks like this: http://www.w-l-t.org/Pix/Coax%20w-F%20connector.jpg), then you'll connect a VCR to that, and then the blu-ray player to the connections on the VCR using the composite cables (yellow, red, white). Switch the VCR to channel "L" or "Line" (usually below channel 2), and it should pass the video through to the television. Of course, if the TV itself has the yellow, white, and red connectors, you should just be able to connect the Blu-ray directly into that.
Also, it may be possible to connect your cable box as an intermediary like I just described with the VCR, depending on your model of cable box.

How do you hook up the dvd player to the tv with a vcr hooked up to the tv

Leave the cable box powered on but disconnected from the TV or VCR. All other components should be disconnected and unplugged, giving clear and easy access to all connections. If components sit in an entertainment unit, make sure all A/V cables can reach the RF modulator and the cable from the modulator can easily reach the television.
  • Step 2 Hookup the first coaxial cable from cable box output, usually labeled "TV," "TV out" or "Out to TV" to the cable "In" on the VCR. Connect the second coaxial cable from the VCR's out to "TV" to the coaxial input on the RF Modulator.
  • Step 3 Connect the third coax cable from the coaxial cable "Out" jack on the RF Modulator to the coax cable "Input" on the television.
  • Step 4 Take one A/V cable, connect the red (right audio channel,) white (left audio channel) and yellow (video) from DVD player's "Output," to the corresponding DVD "inputs" on the RF Modulator. Place components as desired but still disconnected from power. Plug in all power cables including the RF Modulator's into the surge protected outlet strip.
  • Step 5 Make sure the Channel select switch usually found on the back of the VCR and the Channel select switch on the RF Modulator are both set to Channel 3. This channel is used on the television to view your components.
  • Step 6 Turn on the power strip and turn on the TV. Cable reception should come on as usual. Set the TV to Channel 3 and turn on the VCR. With VCR on test it by playing a video tape. The RF Modulator should sense the signal and automatically switch to "VCR."
  • Step 7 Switch off the VCR and with the television still on channel 3, turn on the DVD player. As the RF Modulator senses the DVD player signal and switches to DVD, its welcome screen should be seen on the television. Play a DVD to test and once you're done with the DVD turn it off and the cable should come back on.

I have a samsung dvd vcr combo connected to a jvc tv but when i have press play i get no screen for either video or dvd the dvd runs but no recpetion

If you are connecting the dvd/vcr combo to the tv with coax cable first make sure the tv is on channel 3 and also make sure you have the samsung dvd/vcr combo on channel 3 by using the remote that came with the samsung. You should get picture and sound then if not try channel 4 on tv instead of channel 3. If that doesn't work try to put the samsung on channel 4 as a last option to try. This is only recommended if the combo is hooked to tv with coax cable out of combo to in on tv. Make sure coax is plugged into the out jack on combo and in on tv.

Not able to connect Sharp Model 25h-M60 to Laptop or DVD player

Use a VCR as a A/B switch. Run Cable signal into VCR. Run coax cable out of VCR into television. Connect DVD to VCR (line in) using RCA cables. To use DVD, set VCR channel to L1 or L2 or AUX, depending on VCR type. Set VCR to channel 3 or 4 to watch television. VCR must be powered up to watch DVD.

    Split screen question

Ah split screen just another way of getting two picture in one screen, or sport for he and Opra for her.
Fisrt you must understand what split screen is, it is taking two information from different source and sending the info to the micro to devide the info for two seperat image.
Well something like that but I know you were inpress,
Yes you can. Take the main source you or using I would say the TV box in cable connection or av1 and then your DVD or and VCR to source av2 or 3. When presing split screen or pip you will get one screen showing the main source your tv box and the second your dvd (or VCR) in the source input solector you should be able to change the second amage input with input solector and the tv box change the other.
Oh what a butiful life aint it.
Try this with 7 different source, Cable, satelite, fta, dvd, camera, gaming sytem, and computor,... well that another chapter.

    Hook up vcr

yes, you need to use an Audio/Video cable (red, white, yellow) to hook to the TV. I've never seen a VCR that doesn't have coax connectors for the antenna input and TV ouput, but maybe the new ones are starting to leave that out. Normally, you run the antenna or cable coax into the VCR's input, then run another coax from the VCR output to the TV's input (or use an A/V cable)
