No HP devices detected. HP Solutions Center will close now.

Hi everyone. Anyone have a solution to the "No HP devices detected. HP solutions Center will close now" problem? I'm still using my HP OJ 7410 All in One via Ad-hoc w/less connection.

Been having this prob since like forever and was hoping someone could throw out a few ideas that might help.

Much appreciated.

I have tried and tried to get the HP C7280 all-in-one (disaster) software to install -- so I can use the HP Solution Center (insert hysterical laughter here). The installation hangs at 96%. The printer works. Microsoft scanner/camera wizard will scan. ... But HP Solution Center says No HP device detected (boggle) and closes... I have spent weeks and weeks with HP technical people. I have removed my computer's firewall, virus scanner. I have re-engineered my registry according to HP instructions. I have installed uninstalled installed uninstalled following all the myriad of HP techs' instructions until I am totally committed -- or should be committed -- to this one thing: "I will NEVER buy any other HP product again EVER."

Same problemon my All-in-one 6180. Got a new computer (dell as was the former) and it hasn't worked since. Not only that but the scanner won't work either with the new computer. As well, HP printers have some compatibility issue with Vista - word closes on its own. Seems they don't have a solution to that either.

The computer stopped communicating with L7680 printer... Clicking on the HP Solution Center gives you: No HP Devices have been detected... What a mess, nothing seems to work.

Now depending on the operating system.
Tell you how to get this issue resolved but would require some extremely hard work.
First if using the cd right click the cd and single left click on the open button.
once there you will find a folder called util(keep opening the folders until you find a file called l4_uninstall or uninstall_l4 and double click the file).
you will now see a black window.
even though nothing else shows up click on the enter button on the keyboard of your computer and keep on clicking on ok on the uninstall windows.
once all the windows have closed down.
    restart the computer
    once restarted.
click on the start button on the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen and click on run or press the windows logo button on the keyboard and while pressing it press the R key along with it.
in the run dialog box(the new small window) type in cmd and click on ok or hit the enter key.
in the black window type the following
    sc delete hpslpsvc
    sc delete hpqddsvc
    sc delete hpqcxs08
after all the above are done do the same above and open the run dialog box.
now type services.msc and click ok or hit enter.
and look for any services beginning with the word Hp and double click the option.
now in the new dialog box click the stop button if stop is highlighted,
now under startup type in the same window click on the drop down list and select disabled.
do this for any hp entry seen there.
after that is done x out of the services window.
open up my computer(in vista would be called computer)
now (double click) open the local disk C drive(your drive where windows is installed).
goto the program files and open it.
now select the hp folder and select it by single left clicking it and press the shift button and simultaneously press the delete button , a conformation box would show up asking if you want to delete the folder permanently click on yes.
    ****note****
if while doing the deleting step you get an error go into the hp folder and delete whatever folders you can.

once that is done click on the back button on the top of the same my computer window and open up the folder called windows( this is while your not inside the hp folder).
now you can search for the folder called twain_32 or if your fast at typing then select any one folder and type tw.... the twain_32 folder should be single right clicked and renamed to old twain_32. Or you can select the file and press the f2 button on your keyboard for renaming.

    after this is done
press the windows key and the R button once again to open the run dialog box.
once this is done type the word regedit and click on ok.
the new window opens (be very careful and read very carefully what I write now)
click on the plus sign before hkey_current config.
now click on the plus sign that says system, then expand current control set
Expand the control header and expand the print header.
once done any printers that you are not using please select and press the delete button and click on ok on the dialog box that will popup once you press delete.

now don't close this window we need to now goto hkey_LOCAL MACHINE
EXPAND TILL YOU GET SOFTWARE WHICH YOU ALSO NEED TO EXPAND.
NOW LOOK FOR THE HEWLETT PACKARD FOLDER (NOT HP) and select it and delete it.

restart your computer and goto the link or you can copy and paste the link below in the address bar of your browser and hit the enter key
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoi...

click on the download now button and look for any information bar towards the tabs of your explorer.
click on the information bar and click on install.
if the above doesn't happen don't worry proceed to the next step.

restart the computer one last time and dowload the software from hp.com
(look for support and drivers, click on download software and for product type in "c7280"
    or watever your product is.

once the software has been downloaded install the software now if you have the same problem again I would recommend calling 1800-474-6836 and getting help because it just might be a computer issue (your operating system).

    These steps are a 90% resolution....try it

No HP devices detected. HP Solutions Center will close now.

It might help to uninstall the HP devices through the Device Manager, and then restart the computer. Let the computer try to detect the HP devices and install them and the drivers needed. You might want to have any software discs handy in case you have to reinstall any software that came with the printer, etc.

Try a complete uninstall:

Unplug the USB cable from your PC.
[If it is a WinVista Operating System Then in Go to Start> Control Panel> Programs and features delete all the entries you see for HP.( If it promts a restart do not restart now)
Rest all steps wil be same as winXP]

If it is a WindowsXP Operating System then:

Go to Start> Control panel> Add or Remove programs. and delete all the entries you see for HP.( If it promts a restart do not restart now)
Then open my computer> C:drive> Program files> and delete the HP Folder only (not Hewlett Packard)
Then Open C:drive> Program files> Common Files and then delete HP and Hewlett Packard folder.
Then Go to C:Drive> Windows> Temp and empty the temp folder as much as you can.
Then go to Recycle bin and empty recycle bin.
Then Insert the All-In-One CD and cancel the installation process.
Open the content of the CD> and open Util folder> Then CCC> Then click on Uninstall_L4 and follow the on screen process.

After all restart the computer.

And if possible download the software from HP website:

For WinXp:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-49256-2&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=3192753

Then click on download only and then follow the on screen instruction to install the All-In-One, ONLY PLUG THE USB CABLE WHEN PROMPTED DURING INSTALLATION.

Fo WinVista:

OK that is something really big well dont have to worry there is another small thing that you can try ...
1. If you have the S/w CD then insert it in the computer open my computer >> Right click on the CD ROM drive and select the option EXPLORE >> there will be an icon that will say Util double left click on that >> You will get a folder that says CCC double left click on it >> you will get a list of different icons over there double left click on UNINSTALL_L2 >> a black window(cmd page) will open up and if u have the USB cable plugged in take it out and after that hit "ENTER" from your keyboard it will uninstall the drivers of the printer that is not getting compatible to the operating system in your computer after it uninstalls click on FINISH>>
computer will restart itself...... after that you need to clear the TEMP folder in your computer
...........if XP click on start>>click on RUN>> type %temp% and hit enter delete everythig that is there after selecting any one of them and then pressing Ctrl+A on your keyboard delete everything and then try and install the S/W....
..........if vista type %temp% and hit enter delete everythig that is there after selecting any one of them and then pressing Ctrl+A on your keyboard delete everything and then try and install the S/W ....

    2. Make sure the device is turned on and not in an error state. If unsure, turn the unit off and then back on again.
    3. Try to access the device through Solution Center again.
    4. If the device is still not detected, proceed to Solution two.

Solution two: Check that there is a printer icon in the printer folder

    1. Click Start and then Settings or Control Panel .
    2. Click Printers or Printers and Faxes .
    3. Make sure there is an icon for the printer you are trying to use.
      • If there is no icon and you are connecting via a USB cable, disconnect the cable, and restart the computer. Reinsert the HP software CD and choose Add a device . Connect the unit when prompted by the installer.
      • If there is no icon and it is a wireless connection, run the wireless setup wizard as outlined in the product setup guide, then reinsert the CD and choose Add a device .
      • If there is no icon and it is an Ethernet connection, reinsert the CD and choose Add a device .

Solution three: Check that the Digital Imaging Monitor is running

NOTE: If you chose a custom install and did not select HP Digital Imaging Device Functions, the Digital Imaging Monitor will not be installed. Proceed to Solution five.

    1. Press the CTRL , ALT , and Delete keys at the same time to open the Task Manager.
    2. Look to see if HPQTRA08 and HPQSTE08 are running.
    3. If they are not running, restart the computer and then try again.
    4. If they are still not showing in the list, proceed to Solution four.

Solution four: Check that the HPZPML driver is running

    1. In Windows XP and 2000, click Start , Control Panel , Administrative Services , and then click the Services Icon . Scroll through the list looking for HPZPML to make sure it is set to automatic and that it is running.
    2. In Windows 98/ME, open the Task Manager by pressing CTRL , ALT , and then Delete . The file HPZIPM should be listed.
    3. If the HPZML or HPZIM file are not available, restart the computer. If they still do not show up, proceed to Solution five.

Solution five: Uninstall and reinstall the software

    1. Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. The software installer should automatically start.
    2. If the software installer does not automatically start, complete the following steps:
      1. Click Start and then Run .
      2. On the Open line, type D:\SETUP , where D is the letter of the CD-ROM drive.
      3. Click OK .
    3. Click Uninstall on the installer screen. If Uninstall is not an option, the software installation was incomplete. Click Install .
    4. Follow the onscreen instructions until the printer software is completely installed.

Causegtabtop.gif There are several reasons this can happen. The device was not connected during the installation of the software, there is no printer icon in the printer folder, the Digital Imaging Monitor is not running, or the HP service PML driver is not running.
