SOURCE: 9hhp craftsman chipper shredder won't start

Squirt a couple of spoonfuls of oil into the spark plug hole to increase the compression as it has been sitting so long. Also squirt a little starting fluid into the carb. and give it a shot I think it will start. Hope this will. donnyb60

SOURCE: Troy-Bilt Chipper Shredder won't start

It takes good gas, good spark, and good air for a gasoline engine to run well. The next thing I would do is put a new air filter in it.

SOURCE: I have a mtd chipper shredder that's been idle for

The unit could possibly have carburetor issues after being idle for so long. For a start, add maybe some solvent to the fuel to attempt varnish removal in the carb without taking it off the engine. I suggest using a dose of the Chem Tool Berryman B-12 in your fuel mix. It is pretty strong and if you are lucky, it will enable the engine to run. If not, carb removal and rebuild will probably be required.

Hello, Check the float bowl for water. The gas can could have introduced water and is holding the float in the up possition not allowing enough fuel to enter the bowl to run correctly.

In either case you have a fuel restriction or a lean condition due to too much air.
hop this helps.

How do I clean the fuel line on troy bilt 5hp chipper vac?

unscrew the nut on the bottom of the carburetor and remove the float bowl it must be emptied and cleaned , debree and water gets into the bowl and blocks of fuel flow reinstall the bowl and start, some carbs don't have a float bowl requiring you to remove the gas tank and carb which is a more involved cleaning.

If fuel is leaking from the fuel filter, replace it. If fuel is flowing freely into carburetor and overflowing, it is likely the float, needle and seat.

42 inch Craftsman carburator not getting any gas. You can spray quick start and will will fire. Does gas from tank gravity feed to filter?

gas tank gravity feeds fuel to the carb. if you pull the fuel line from the carb, fuel should flow out of the tube. if it does not, then either the vent hole on the gas cap is plugged or there are contaminents at the bottom of the gas tank preventing fuel from flowing into the fuel line.
