Hi,

What model of TV are you hooking the Bose system pls? Alternately, determine if the TV you are hooking it into has a pair of white and red RCA connector marked Audio OUT.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

This would seem to be two (2) different concerns:
Bose 321 to a Samsung TV; and
Bose GS to a Spectre 46.

Is it better too hook up a optical audio cable from a PS3 to a bose 321 series III or to hook up the optical audio cable from my TV audio out to the bose 321 system?

Hello, its always better to go the shortest route this would be ps3 right to the bose there are too many menu variables ,circuits, that would be involved if you involve the tv output as well. that theory applies to video as well always go directly from source to load without any additional switches (circuits) when possible.

How to hook up to hdtv

You should be able to connect the bose directly from the cable box. You also can connect from the audio output of the TV itself providing it has an audio output. If all eslse fails you can use the headphone output from the TV to the input of the Bose system

Xbox 360 and bose surround sound no video

If your TV is HD, you should definitely be connecting the component video cables (green, blue and red) from the 360 to the TV (the 321 will not do video pass-thru from component cables). -Make sure you have a picture at this point. (TV switched to whichever input you connect the 360 to)
You can get an RCA extension cable for the audio portion (red and white) to connect to the 321 for audio. You could also connect an optical audio cable to the 321. An optical cable must be assigned from the system menu to work..
Let me know if this helps.

Additional speakers for 321 system

No. You would need some kind of audio out connections on the back of the media center. The only audio outs it has are the
Acoustimass® Module – SPDIF connector.

Unless you were to hook up an amp before the Bose media center. In other words, you could run your TV to another amp's line in. You would hook up additional speakers to this other amp, then run audio line outs to the line in of your Bose media center. Some stereo amps have a line out or record/tape out, it is from here that you would run the cables to your Bose media center line ins. The disadvantage to doing it this way is you would have to plug all your media devices (dvd, tv, etc) into this amp first and your Bose remote wouldn't let you switch between devices. If your media devices you have offer digital audio, then you would want an amp that also offers a digital out for the best sound. Otherwise you will end up with analog out from this amp to the Bose media center and thus lose any of the digital signal information like surround information. So there isn't much point in doing this. If your gonna get an amp that has all the digital in's and out's, you might as well just use it with new speakers and forget the Bose system you have.

Connecting bose 321 system to lg hd flat screen, bose receiver plays fm am ok threw speakers.tv will not play threw bose speakers.bose dvd plays sound ,but no picture

You will need a Component Video Cable
Connect the Red Green and Blue Connections from the TV to the Bose.

if your audio is coming from the TV, also connect stereo audio from the TV's audio out to the "TV" input on the bose.

if you want to hook up other devices (VCR, BluRay, etc) the video will go directly to the TV and audio will go directly to the Bose

VOLUME ISSUE

I had my older bose 321 hooked up through vcr and sounded great. Then hooked it up through directv receiver and sounded better. then switched from direct to comcast and hooked the bose up throught the comcast hd receiver and the volume is aweful. same deal, have to crank it up high. Since the stereo built into the tv sounds so much better I disconnected the bose and am going to sell it.
