Mic will not work with downloads

You may just need to manually select your mic. Go to this free video mail site. Click on the mic icon and then try the choices in the drop down list. Record and play back brief recordings until you can hear yourself. Once you know the mic that works select it in Skype or other software program. It is usually under Settings, Audio.

Visit the Logitech website and browse the photo gallery for your model and click on the photo to navigate to the support page.

In addition to the Logitech installer you will need to check the support software - Microsoft DirectX . This comes pre-loaded on most Windows computers but has to be updated - I am currently on version 11
To start the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click 'Start', click 'Run', type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK
Run through the tabs checking the 'notes' windows for information
The version will be shown on the 'Systems' tab

Procedure to re-install Logitech software
Close all programs while uninstalling - downloading and uploading software
Disconnect your webcam
Uninstall the current webcam software on your computer
Restart computer
Download the Installation package from Logitech
Run the installer and choose your options during the installation - You may not want Logitech Chat but the Desktop icon for the webcam toolbar is a must.
Connect your webcam when prompted.

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

Make sure you are running the latest Internet Explorer - even if you have another browser set as default.

Plug in your webcam or headset or mic you wish to use with your webcam
Control Panel (Classic View)
Open 'Sounds and Audio Devices' folder and click on the Audio tab - make your preferred mic the default device in the 'Sound recording window'
Open 'Volume' below the window to ensure the mic is not muted
Click 'Apply' and 'OK'
Restart your computer
Configure the webcam / mic to your chat program

Plug in your webcam or headset or mic you wish to use with your webcam

If it fails to work here concentrate on your webcam drivers and software before moving forward.

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to WLM (MSN)

CONFIGURE SOFTWARE to MSN
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the MSN software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in, after a few seconds, to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Open MSN
Click 'Open Menu'
From 'Tools; navigate to, and click, 'Audio and Video setup'
Set your speakers
Click 'Test' - if OK, move on.
Set your mic as default
Use the slider to set volume and test.
Click 'Next'
This takes you to the video setup
Your webcam should be broadcasting - (if not - make sure the webcam is set as default - restart MSN)
Use 'Webcam Settings'to fine tune the picture.
Click 'Finish'

Make sure your webcam mic is set as the default mic on your computer - this is especially important if you have a laptop also with a built-in mic

The freezing problem could be for a variety of reasons - internet connection - lack of memory etc.
Ensure you have Microsoft DirectX installed and its up to date
If you installed from a CD your Logitech software itself may need updating

You can also download and run this webcam diagnostic software - dont worry too much about the first alert - I always get that.
Reboot your webcam software by unplugging the cam for a couple of seconds before running the diagnostic utility

The software for the mic comes as part of the Logitech bundle - you may have a laptop or another mic also installed

Expand 'Imaging' folder in Device Manager and right click on your webcam text - Update driver software from internet

Failing this, uninstall current webcam software and download from here

first u check whether your mic is correct, try to plugin some other pc where mic is working in good condition,
