We have the same problem.. about 2 years old. called maytag customer service and they weren't helpful at all. however, if you have the same type of washer and it is also acting up, there is a class action suit against maytag centennial washer mvwc6esww1 or mvwc6esww0. hope this helps.

Our Maytag Centennial Electric dryer is not cycling in auto dry mode but will in timer mode. Any thoughts?

There is a sensor that the clothes have to touch when the drum spins. This sensor measures how wet the clothes are. If you don't have enough of a load in the dryer then the sensor wont detect the dryness. Or it could be a bad sensor or connection or main board.

Maytag Centennial Dryer (MEDC400VW) not drying properly

First of all, please make sure the vent is clear all the way through. Next the vent must be straight as possible. Next it can not be to long. People think that because they feel the air outside the vent is clear, not always true. The vent can be partially clogged. So make sure. Next, if the vent hose has sags or bows and even tight turns. It can accumulate the moisture in it from the drying proceed. If water has collected in the vent hose the clothes will not dry properly. If the vent is to long it can not dry properly either, the blower on the dryer can only move air so far. So the shorter the better. If all of these requirements are meet. Then, I would have to start checking the thermostats. I hope I have helped you. Please respond if you need further assistance.

CLOTHES WONT DRY. IT GETS REALLY HOT INSIDE. THEY SEEM WETTER AFTER IT RUNS FOR AWHILE. TAKES PROLLY 3 HRS TO DRY.

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

My maytag centennial dryer is getting too hot and not drying my clothes. I always empty the lint trap, and have checked the vent going outside. The airflow seems to come out fine, but the air is too hot...

Exhaust problems are the only thing that will cause this. Check to make sure the exhaust behind the dryer is going straight out without alot of bends. Also no exhaust should be over 20 ft to the outside. Ther is a tip on how to clear house exhaust in the tips section. Just type dryer to long to dry and should take you there.

My Maytag Quite Plus clothes dryer gets warm but not as hot as it use to. It seems to take a very long time to dry clothes. Vent is clear. The moisture gage seems to flicker lately.

most dryers have two heating elemts and when one goes out this increases the drying time and could cause a elec. short and trip a braker can be replaced.. There is also a saftey switch that goes bad and will not let the heating elemt work properly ?
