When I try to scan it flashes E31. I'm unable to find any manuals for this aside from the setup guide which doesn't cover scanning for the first time or troubleshooting. Help! :)
Okay I found the solution. Spent two days solving it so actually the advertisment is a lie. Wireless he can only print but not scan. I had to plug in my usb cable to be able to scan. Hope this helped you. There's no way you can scan wireless.
Make sure you use the CD rom enclosed with your printer to access the ability to scan via internet. If you don't have it, you'll need to go to the Canon website and download ALL those files, including the drivers. I just had to do that after getting a new computer and not being able to find the CD that came with my printer.
After a few times of frustration, and a few reboots of both the computer AND the printer, it's now working.

OK, just looked at printer settings and it has this machine down twice...once as just a printer, which is online (wireless), and the other has it listed as printer/scanner but says to connect with a cable...that it's offline.
Does this mean the scanner is not wireless for some reason? It doesn't make sense to me, since it's not really trying to scan, it just gives me the error code...
Fixed. I had to connect my WIRELESS P/S/C to the computer and now it scans just fine. But seriously, it's supposed to be wireless...why should I have to connect it to get it to do one of it's 3 basic functions.
False advertising. Will never buy Canon again. When I redecorate my Canon was going to be across the room, which is why I paid extra.
Can anyone out there scan with this machine wirelessly?
Have the same problem. I have not tried to hook the printer up to the laptop yet but I will try that now. Thank you for the help.
the only way i can get it to scan wirelessly is by using the "add-on" thats on my desk top. If you click on the "show main screen" button and go to "use scanner" then hit auto scan it will scan wirelessly. i have not tried to use the auto scan button on the add-on. hope this helps.
