You can't simply enter 7x+9=30 into the calculator, there is a way to calculate what the x is but its been a few years since I've done these..

  • Ekse Oct 03, 2008

    Hold on, I will try to figure it out for you.

  • Ekse Oct 03, 2008

    7x+9=30

    We turn it around

    7x = 30-9

    Minus

    7x = 21

    Devide both sides

    7x = 21 ||:7

    Answer

    x = 3

    7*3 +9 =30

How do i use this for algebra equations, putting in varables and such

Calculator manual: http://education.ti.com/downloads/guidebooks/scientific/30xii/30xiiqrg-eng.pdf
If you are just trying to solve a simple quadratic equation by entering coefficients, this calculator does have those features. The TI-83 is a better choice for that kind of function.

Press MODE to enter the mode editor. Scroll to the second line and select FLOAT or a larger number of digits than the 2 it appears to be in now.

You can download a Guidebook from http://education.ti.com

TI 83

Yes you can use it, here is the formula: Y= V(t+ (i/c))^(tc) V=amount put in, t=time, i=intrest rate, c= amount of times it is compounded.
(I know this because I have a TI-83 calculator)

TI-83 Plus No Longer Squares Correctly

when you type -2 imagine your calculator doing the equation: -1 x 2. The - sign actually stands for a -1 so when you do -2 squared your calculator is simply following order of operations. It first squares the 2 making it 4, then it multiplies the negative making it -4. In order to get around this you must use parenthese. (-2)^2.

Hope this helped

How to use the texas instruments ti 83 plus

Srry my friend the ti 83 is no magnificent Ti-89. meaning: you have to solve it yourself. There is a method for graphing though. Set the equation equal to zero and then plug the stuff on the other side of the equation into a graph by pressing y= and then typing it in. Then hit graph. Wait for the graph and then hit 2nd calc and select zeros. Bring your cursor using hte arrow keys close to where the line hits the x axis and press enter and then do the same except to the right of that point and then press enter twice and it will display the y which should be the answer
There are quadratic formulas for calculators programmed in tibasic for the calc but other than that there is no way to solve it

Solver not working properly

try a simple equation like x^2-1 which should come out with x = 1,-1

no sign change would indicate that the graph of the curve never crosses the x axis, if you graphed the above equation and calculated the zeros, it would come out with -1, 1 which it should, but if you put in x^2+1, the graph would never cross and therefore have no sign change from pos to neg or vice versa, the left-rt are the left and right bounds or the lower and upper bounds which was corrected in later calculators, Please let me know the outcome of graphing both of the above equations and then putting them in the solver. you could also use the quadratic equation to prove the answers if you liked, hope this helps
