Sherwood regulator is free flowing

My back up sherwood regulator has a slight free flow at surface. I have not yet dove the scuba set. I puchased it used and plan to do a boat dive tomorrow. It is a older non adjustment type secondary reulator yellow in color. Any suggestions? I did try tapping the purge without results.

Needs a seal rebuild kit.... They are simple to do, open the regulator up first and check that there isn't any salt or dirt inside

SOURCE: old style sherwood blizzard regulator problem

The front of the regulator should twist off with a little effort then exposing the purge diaphram, check your dry cracking and deteireation, you shoud be able to dismantle the reg and assmeble easily, and when you do get it open lube the piston and diaphram with silicone grease, but not the side you breath from just the mechnical side.

SOURCE: How clean the first Stage on my scuba regulator

Simple green an a toothbrush should work fine. For stubborn spots, soak in vinegar for 4-5 hours, if still not clean, then a mixture of water and automotive chrome cleaner (mild abrastive) and a toothbrush. Rinse well. If still not clean, consult your local Scuba repair shop.

SOURCE: Regulator free flows

A well tuned reg will easily freeflow. Try holding the mouthpiece downward and SLOWLY rotating to fill the 2nd stage with water.
If that does not stop the freeflow and/or if the 2nd bubbles even with the mouthpiece held downward, the you need to get the reg serviced.

Free flowing regulator

If free flow from the moment the unit is pressurized it could be the 1st stage intermediate pressure (IP) is too high or the second stage valve seat is missing, set screw is too loose, seat is damaged or has debris on it. If the free flow gradually increases under pressure it usually indicates a damaged 1st stage valve seat. A trained Mares Tech with the correct tools and genuine parts would be the best solution.

While trying to replace the hose for my Sherwood octo RS7206, the metal fall of and cant put it back. Any manuals shows me how to but it back?

Im not sure which part you are referring to. However regulator manufacturers dont generally provide manuals, as this is a critical piece of equipment I would strongly recommend that you send it too an authorised repair shop and do not undertake DIY repairs yourself. Hope this helps.

The regulator is free flowing the opupus is also free flowing . They are Magnum blizzard by sherwood

Your regulator requires servicing as this problem could be caused by either excessive pressure in the LP line to your Reg or the valve in the reg has become defective.

My reg simply free flows when connected to the tank. Its the first time it has ever done this. Is this an easy fix, or should I start to worry? the thing is this reg is at least 10 years old so I don't...

Turn the regulator mouthpiece down
Blow air back into regulator
Make sure the sensitivity slide is toward the edge of the regulator
Turn the gas on quickly when the rig is mounted. Turning on slowly results in free flow

Sherwood 2000 1st stage leaking. Who repairs? Dealer or can I purchase parts and self repair.

Take it to a dealer! What's your life worth? Self repair can work if you can get the parts, but that's not likely due to liability issues.
Best advice is don't mess with life support equipment.

Leaking can be caused by several thing. Sometimes it minor, sometimes total failure imminent.

ON THE OTHER HAND, if the "leaking" is very slight and is coming from around a little rubber insert in what appears to be a port in the 1st stage, it's supposed to do that! That's how the simple Sherwood regs equalize pressure to ambient. Go figure. Simple.

I have an unmarked first stage reg. thats leaking air through the back side through the two small holes

Depending on the model, some regulators (such as Sherwood) always leak a very small stream of fine bubbles as part of the depth compensating mechanism. By this, the regulator adjusts the air flow from the first stage to compensate for increased depth.

As a regulator technician, I would have to see the first stage to make any educated comment or recommendation.
