My new LG LCD TV (3 days old!) suddenly started playing up, last night. I was initially using the receiver unit (with built-in DVD) to play a disc of MPG files, which it did successfully. Then, I tried to change the input back to TV and the remote wouldn't work! So, I tried turning the TV off on the TV itself, but it still wouldn't switch off! So, I switched it off at the wall and turned it back on, and everything seemed to work for a few seconds and then the same thing happened again. Still, I had enough time to switch the input from the receiver (DVD) to the HDTV before it happened again, but it continued to 'lock up' in the TV mode and the picture also started getting interference/static as well. If I then turned the power off at the wall and left it for a few minutes, the TV would turn back on and the TV picture would be fine for a minute or two, but then the same thing (static on the picture, and no remote control and no response from any of the buttons on the TV itself). Please help!

Good thing the tv is under warranty, theres no magical fix for a problem like this. I would either return it to the store or call for service. If you atempt to do to much to fix it you might voide the warranty, and you should have to do anything to fix it as you said its 3 days old.

Chronicles of Narnia. Lion,witch,wardrobe blu-ray won't play

Updated firmware last night (for the Bd370) and the main movie disc for Chronicles of Narnia: Lion, witch, wardrobe worked (after previously stalling). However, the bonus disc still doesn't work when I play it (just a blank screen). I traded the Blue-ray DVD from where I bought it for another one, and it made no difference. However, both Narnia discs played okay in the store on a Sharp blue-ray DVD/Tv combo.

WRONG DISC ERROR WHEN PLAYING A DVD

HI,. this is a lens assembly fault. the lens is malfunctioning or, it may have stopped reading. this wrong disc code is just a universal warning that is concerning a fault if the main board doesn't receive any data(audio, video) when the disc is inserted.

Due to the integrated status of your unit, this will be a costly repair because, the entire assembly is combined together with the vcr section as well.

You will need to replace the entire assembly to fix this issue. the lens has burned out.

you can confirm my diagnosis by preforming a cleaning of the lens with a cleaning disc. if the unit continues to not read or play a CD after the cleaning, this will confirm my diagnosis.

Please rate and have a great day:)

LG RH278 HDD/DVD Recorder

I have an LG RH278 HDD/DVD Recorder, which was suffering from the problem that it could not play any bought DVD movies, which were previously working fine in that same player. It would however play svcd and DVD+R/-R movie discs.

The solution was to replace the laser tray. I found a new LG DVD BD lens LPC-815 laser tray here: http://www.laser-xh.com/en/?act=showproduct&proid=1147
I bought two for $5.50 each. Shipping was $32 (DHL), all together $45.10 (PayPal fees included). Delivery was fast and accurate within 3 working days (China - Sweden).

LG DR6921W DVD Recorder. Unit will not recognise DVD discs (Blank or commercially recorded)but will recognise and play audio CD's. Unit is 3 years old.

That is most common problem of DVD player recorder, when getting old cannot read DVD discs, only video cd and audio cd,sometimes does'nt read video cd also. The problem is in inside of the unit the DVD processor is defected already or maybe the solder is crack, need to resolder again or reheat the processor solder, or that processor change with a new one,so the performance will back again, good as new.The lense of that unit is good,i can assure that.

Various LG DVD Player

Some models of PIONEER cd players had radio frequency problems that caused them to work on and off. Are you near any radio or braodcast towers? Poorly shielded power supplies cause this as well. A weak laser diode in the pick-up assembly in model runs could be the problem. You might want to Google the model number and see if this is common for these units.
