Here is my information again here to help you, if you did not get it in other post you made. Thanks Mike.
Hello Here is some more information for you to follow to guide you step my step.
Device displays a white or red cross
If your navigation device displays a cross after you switch
it on, it means that the TomTom application is not installed correctly.
Note: It is normal for the navigation device to show a cross while it is connected to the computer.
The solution depends on which TomTom software is used for updating.
Check which software your navigation device uses for getting updates.
Devices using MyTomTom for updates
For navigation devices that use MyTomTom, reset your device.
Devices using TomTom HOME for updates
For navigation devices that use TomTom HOME, you can solve this
problem by installing the latest application on your navigation
device. Here is also a link that will help you more. This will answer all
your questions Mike

Ive tried all this with tom tom home latest app will not download anything to the hard disk on the device. Ive deleted all files suggested , now it shows the red x on the device when I try to plug it into my truck charger not computer. now I have nothing....
Well, Last thing you can do, is call tomtom and, a lot of times if you are nice and stroke there ego, and tell them how you love there company and so forth , you know really beef it up, and tell them you referred them to a lot of there friends and you are embarrassed when yours is now not working. Anyway point of my story, I have written letters like that for customers or told them how to do it, and guess what.? All but one, got a free one in the mail, and return box paid postage to send there non working one back. It appears you have done everything, to the point of internal problem. That is about all you do at this point, but call might work, with a follow up letter. Mike
Too Funny Mike but it is true I love it enough to not want to get rid of it......Guess I better get to work looking for a contact number. Thanks again for the Help......... ; )
