I am trying to follow an example in our book and use my EL-531W to solve it. My problem is I am getting different numbers than the book is.
Equation:
e = exponential
10 4 = 10 to the fourth power
8.2 x 10 4 MBa = Noe-(0.693/8days)(4days)
8.2 x 10 4 MBa = Noe(0.7071)
How do I enter e-(0.693/8days)(4days) into the calculator to get e(0.7071)?
No one in class can get the correct anser on this calculator, but we can on other scientific calculators, so I'm pretty sure we are entering it incorrectly into the Sharp.
Thanks!
Hello,
Here is how you enter it.
[+/-]0.693/8x4[2ndF][e^x][=] result is 0.7071588193 or as you wrote 0.7071
some calculators show an error message if you enter the [+/-] (the negative of a number before the number itself).
In that case enter 0.693 then press [+/-]. the calculator should put a small - sign before the 0.
You can try
0.693[+/-][x]4[/]8[2ndF][e^x][=]
Hope it clarifies things.
1) Multiplication inside the log can be turned into addition outside the log, and vice versa.
2) Division inside the log can be turned into subtraction outside the log, and vice versa.
3) An exponent on everything inside a log can be moved out front as a multiplier, and vice versa.
